So I finally tried a shellac manicure and absolutely love it! Got it done over a week ago and it still looks GREAT! With a regular mani, usually by the 3rd day, it looks like crap, all chipped up and everything. I'm definitely going to be getting these done on the regular now! -

Re: Shellac Manicure - rave!
I know right? I've been getting alot of compliments on the color.
Where did you get it done? Was the price decent?
I've been really disappointed with my last few manicures here.
Agreed. Shellac is worth it. Normal manicures don't last. It's a bit cheaper than acrylics so a happy medium is fine with me.
Recommendation: Amanda Disney in Brentwood, CA.
Thanks, yep I'm lovin' them now too!
Got it done at Bello's Nail Studio in Coquitlam, $35, I think that's pretty decent.
I tried it a couple times and finally decided it's not for me. I'm so used to getting my nails done every week that by the end of week 1 my nails started to feel kinda gross. Then by week 2 they were peeling at the cuticle end of the nail. And my nails grow really quickly so there was a big gap between polish and cuticle.
Also, it costs more for me to get Shellac. $8 for a regular mani and $30 for Shellac.

Nothing wrong with a good shellac for $35.
A bit far for me, though. I was hoping for Kerrisdale or Oakridge. A friend goes to a place on Victoria that she raves about, so I'll have to give that a try. (And it's crazy cheap, which is a bonus.)
This.
And, when you decide you don't want to do shellac anymore your nails are much thinner once they take of the shellac. It wasn't as bad as when I went from acrylics to regular nails, but there was thinness and peeling that needed to grow out.
I know there's a cheap but good place on Victoria, can't remember the name..., too far for me though, lol
$20?? wow, that's cheap! Thanks
Really? hmmm. Yeah I remember how crappy my nails looked and felt after quitting acrylics. Oh well, we'll see how it goes
A co-worker of mine fell in love with Shellac mani's several months ago, it was the only polish she could keep on her natural nails. I almost took the plunge, until I saw what if did to her nails.
I will still consider it before a long trip or vacation, but not for reg. use.
