Wallpaper & Textured walls PIP/LIP
Hi ladies,
This is my first time posting on this board but I've lurked for awhile and you all seem very helpful.
I have never done wallpaper myself in my life and my current walls are textured, this is my inspiration picture: http://cdn.smallscreenscoop.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/once-upon-a-time-set-design-480x310.png
This is the room:
The wallpaper would be on the wall with the window. My question is, how hard is putting up a wallpaper like that, and can it be done on a textured wall?
Thank you so much for your help!
Re: Wallpaper & Textured walls PIP/LIP
I would think it could be done on a textured wall... it just depends on how textured. If it's textured but knocked down and smooth to the touch, you should be ok. If it's uneven and would scratch your hand if you ran it across it, then it's probably NOT ok. If it's scratchy, you should probably knock it down with a large spackle knife to get it smooth. You could also apply a thin coat of joing compound (spackle) to the whole wall to make it closer to a non textured wall.

Hmm. That's smooth all right. I would google "wallpaper over textured wall" and see what comes up. If it were me, I would take a 10" or 14" trowel and slap a thin layer of joint compound over the whole wall. Maybe two coats.
