unused shower

We don't really use the shower in our downstairs bathroom. We recently remodeled our upstairs bath, and we have been using that shower instead. I did give the downstairs one a good scrubbing a couple of weeks ago once we began using the upstairs one. So my question is, if you have a shower that you don't use, how often do you clean it? Just after you use it, once a month, only before guests come?

TIA!

Re: unused shower

  • Hmm... I think whenever you have guests sounds good... but if there is a long gap between guests you will probably have to give it a once-over anyway.

  • I clean the unused bathrooms before having guests over, but use the scrubbing bubbles automatic toilet bowl cleaners once a week to prevent grime build up.

  • I'd go with whenever guests come AND/OR when it looks visibly dirty/dusty. It probably won't get very dirty, since there won't be soap scum, but there still might be some water, and obviously dust and whatnot, and I would worry that you might get stains, especially if you have hard water, if you NEVER clean it.

  • Thanks ladies! My thoughts were to just clean it before guests come and also after it gets used if it does, I just wanted another opinion to make sure I wasn't being "gross" by not cleaning it, LOL. And I definitely plan to take a glance in there every so often to see if it's dusty or dirty in anyway and then I would definitely give it a cleaning!

We never use the shower near our spare bedrooms. I only clean it when we're having overnight guests. And maybe a quick wipe down if we're having company, in case they're nosy & peek behind the shower curtain.

That's always my fear when we have company! LOL.

  • We have a tub in the guest bath, that I use in the mornings to wash my hair, if I had showered the night before (like after a workout), I dry it out after each use, but don't scrub it usually unless someone is visiting or unless it really looks crummy.
