Omg

I have an antique family heirloom ring stuck on my finger and I can't get it off. I have no clue how I managed to get it on.

Any tricks? I've tried soap, lotion, olive oil and now have  my hand in ice

  • You just listed all the ideas I had.

  • Wait a little while and try again. All of the tugging trying to get it off probably made your finger swell a bit.
  • Ice, ice, baby.

Is your finger getting swollen?  You may have to cut it off but a jeweler can always fix it.

  • Hold your hand over your head for about 10 min then try the oil again.

ETA: I should add that this is how I've gotten my wedding ring off with each pregnancy when my fingers turned to fatty swollen sausages. So I'm not just spouting off BS, it really does work!

  • Or you could take notes from your siggy..."butter is slippery". I know, I'm not funny.

  • There's a trick with floss that you should try.  I would google it for you but I can't right now my internet is spotty.  F*cking GA.

  • Ice. And worse comes to worse you have it cut off and then have a jeweler fix it.

  • Windex!!!

Soak hand in ice cold water and try to relax.

  • Put your hand above your head. The blood flow will decrease and then spray with windex.

  • The only thing I've tried that wasn't mentioned is sucking it off. I've had to do it to J a few times. ::giggle::

I had to do this with my wedding rings when I was pregnant.  It sucked, but they came back all beautiful and sparkly and cleaned.  It's not the best case scenario, but it's not the worst thing ever either.

*if you go to a good jeweler

I got it off using windex after icing it. It took a layer and a half of skin with it though.

    Painful.

  • Oh, I'm glad it came off. The loss of skin sucks though.

There is a nestie I can't recall but she got a very expensive diamond ring stuck on her finger at a jewelry store and had to tell them.

  • For future reference, the floss trick is to get a piece of floss between the ring and your finger then wind it to the tip like you're making threads on a screw. then unwind from the ring end and it should spin off with the floss.

Boo. At least you got it off your finger with minor damage to said finger.
