So I called the cops tonight

I sat down to eat dinner with the girls and started nursing the baby when I heard a thud and saw a man walking through my backyard. The doucher hopped over my back fence from the neighbors behind us and was acting all shady. It scared the ever living crap out of me so I called 911. I had my phone right next to me and at first he was walking towards the house so I panicked. He eventually went past the house to the side.  I wasn't able to tell if he was on the side of my house or if he kept hopping fences. Plus it looked like he was running from something/someone.

Cops came about 5 min later and checked everything out and made sure he wasn't still around and said they would do a neighborhood patrol for the next several weeks.

So that was exciting.

Also (not related to calling the cops) when I was giving DD a bath she threw out a bunch of her toys and soaked the tile. When I went to scrub her down the bathmat slid out from under me and I pretty much fell into the bathtub head first. I caught myself with my left arm but now my shoulder is aching I'm so thankful I didn't break anything, I can't imagine trying to do all of this with a cast!

Fun times at the Mango household tonight!

How terrifying!  Did you call the neighbors?  I'd be going door to door letting everyone know about the creeper.  Stay safe!

  • Once when we lived in a real city someone broke in our back door and our dog went apeshit (massive rotweiler) and the guy took off running.

Not related but I like telling the story because my dog is old now and won't be here much longer so I like singing his praises.

    Sorry.

    Shot first, questions later.
  • I think it's time for you to call it a day.  I'm glad the creeper took off and you weren't hurt any worse.

One of my neighbors checked in on me after the cops left. Her son (about 16, big for his age) was in their back yard playing basketball and saw the guy jump over the fence into my yard. The cops went and let a few of my neighbors know what was up.

So random. I'm really thankful he didn't stop.

  • Eek! Glad it all turned out ok. Sounds like your local PD actually made an effort, especially by notifying neighbors. That makes me happy!

  • That's crazy! I'm glad your PD is so proactive though.
