Need recs for mascara, concealer & moisturizer

Sorry if this has been asked a bajillion times... I'm not a reg here :)

I'm going to Ulta tomorrow and I'd like to pick up the following (in these price ranges)

Facial Moisturizer (regular untinted, for oily skin) - under $10

Mascara (I currently use Loreal Voluminous and it's okay, but I want something new that is great for lengthening & thickening) - under $20

Concealer (for both under eye circles and blemishes) - under $30

I'd love to hear your favorites... thanks girls!

  • I don't really shop at Ulta, but I'd like to recommend shifting around your price points so you can spend a little bit more on moisturizer.  The skin on your face deserves to be treated a little better than half of what you're spending on your eyelashes.    Also, make sure you get a moisturizer with SPF.  Makes wearing SPF much easier when it's already in somethign you're putting on.

I  wear Chanel everything except for mascara.  I use Sephora's Lash Plumper, and I adore it.    It's $13.

Agreed.  My favorite moisturizer for my oily skin is the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer, which is mid-range in terms of price.  You can usually get a deluxe sample-sized tube for around $10 if you want to give it a try.

For mascara, I like Tarte's Lights, Camera, Lashes.  It's right in your price range.

For concealer, I prefer Bobbi Brown, but that's more a matter of which brand had the exact shade and formula that worked best for my skin.  Definitely shop around for this.

  • Clinique's High Impact Mascara is a holy grail product for me, and it's in your price range.

I agree with the others that you should spend more on moisturizer than the other products you listed. This one from Boscia is my favorite: http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?skuId=2214869&productId=xlsImpprod1980025&navAction=push&navCount=1

  • Another vote for budgeting more on a good moisturizer. I'd prefer to get better quality skin care products, and go a little cheaper on make-up items, if you need to.

I love Hope in a Jar, and most Philosophy products. A lot of people hate the smell, but I really like it. Sephora actually makes a pretty good store brand moisturizer. I also like Ole Henrickson, especially their SPF 50+.

Mascara - ditto on the Tarte: Lights, Camera, Lashes

I don't use concealer, so no recs.

In general though, if you have access to a Sephora, I would HIGHLY recommend it over Ulta.

    i agree.

  • Spend more on the moisturizer, Murad SPF 15 mattefying lotion..great for oily skin and it will keep yor skin matte 90% of the day

el cheapo mascara, Maybelline full & soft

I wouldn't use the same concealer for under eyes and face...a dark spot, blemish, etc has different ccoloring from dark circles and therefore needs a different product

I like Maybelline age rewind illuminator for under eyes. ...it really brightens the area. You could also get the age rewind concealer for your face and spend maybe $15 total for two products

Bobbi Brown is good too but $$$ and not sold at ULTA

  • For moisturizer, I like CeraVe. It's only about $15 and is something recommended by my derm.

The NYX mascaras are available at Ulta and are very nice. I also like L'Oreal Double Extend for oomph.

I wouldn't use the same concealer under my eyes as I would on a zit. For under eyes, I like Amazing. For blotchiness the Maybelline Eracer is nice if you can find a match. For breakouts, Neutrogena makes a decent one.

  • I agree with PP...you need to spend more on moisturizer and less on mascara.  I like the mascara you are currently using but Covergirl Lash Blast is also nice.  I use Exuviance line from UIta which can be a bit pricy ($30-40) but it is really nice.  When I run out of my day moisturizer I am going to try either Murad or Bobbi Brown's mattifying moisturizer.  I like the Maybelline Instant Age Eraser concealer in brightening for my under eyes and I use either MAC or Benefit's BOO-ING for everything else.
  • I use Cetaphil moisturizer for oily skin, it's around $15 and I think it works good, but I don't have anything else to compare it to yet.

I really like Maybelline Stilleto mascara, I'm surprised I haven't seen any recs for it on this board yet (that I've seen so far). It does more for length then volume, but that's what I like since I don't have really long lashes, but they are dark.

  • Mascara: Diorshow $$$ or Maybelline Falsies $

Moisturizer: Origins Have a Nice Day $$$ or Oil of Olay $

Concealer: Benefit Erase Paste $$$ or MAC $$

  • For moisturizer I like Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer but I'm not sure if they carry that at Ulta. I'm not too picky and since I buy makeup a lot, I usually get samples all the time, so I haven't had to buy face lotion in a while. At the moment, I am using the one by Bare Minerals which is pretty good but I don't think is under $10.

I am still on the search for my HG mascara. Right now, I don't even have a full size tube of anything, just samples. I'm currently using MUFE Smoky Lash which is not bad. Next time I buy mascara, I think I will get DiorShow however for under $20, I would say Maybelline Falsies is pretty good.

For concealer, I like the one by Murad.
