I got Mirena today

For anyone who is curious, getting it done hurts like the worst menstrual cramps ever. Ibuprofen has helped eased the cramps dramatically, but I plan on spending the rest of the day in bed and in my pajamas. It's not comfortable at all.

But for five years of protection, I don't mind being in pain for a day or two.

It's just me and my Marlon now... and I LOVE it that way!

Re: I got Mirena today

  • I hope you like it. I have had mine two years now and love it!! I never had cramping after the initial insertion. I felt fine. I did have spotting for about 6 weeks but then I cycle like normal now.
  • I am getting paraguard next month and I am skeered!!!

Dude, when?  You'll be fine...it'll be awesome and you won't have any babies.  I'm back to being in love with mine.  My periods are back to normal (infrequent and relatively easy), and no babies for me.  Yay!

  • I got mine last week!  Keep up on the ibuprofen.  You should feel so much better by tomorrow.  I only had pain during the insertion and some cramping the rest of the afternoon.  Totally worth it :)

I'm feeling a lot better this evening. Not 100% but the cramps are tolerable now. I've been keeping up on the ibuprofen. Hopefully I can work tomorrow.

I'm willing to bet that you are going to feel much better tomorrow.  Good luck !

Don't be! I have Mirena. The insertion was uncomfortable but I have to say that it only *hurt* once. I popped advil for the next 24 hours and was fine. Went to work right after it was put in with no trouble.

Lucky! I was so happy I had the day off-- I was in so much pain the day of. I've had some slight cramping yesterday and today, but nothing unbearable.
