Flaming shoutout for Geek - F'd up situation

So. H just called. In the past week some random dude has tried to abduct H's BF's son twice. Same guy. Same car. Same situation - the kid (he's 8) was playing in the yard and the guy stopped and told him to get in the car. Kid refused and ran inside.

The first time they called the cops immediately. They came out, found the car and the guy 5 blocks away. Arrested him, questioned him, relased him. The second time they called the cops and the same thing happened. Found him 5 blocks away... Arrested, questioned, released. No further inquiry.

The kid knows the car. Described it to his dad. His dad looked on the sex offender site. There are two offenders (child rape) living 5 blocks from his house. The dad drove past. There's the car his kid described.

The media has been alerted.

Geek... eyes wide open. They live in the development across the street from the rhino fries, beside that gigantic radio tower.

I'll DD later, for obvious reasons.

  • Holy sh*t that's crazy.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • The reasons aren't obvious to me.  Hell, the reasons why we aren't putting this guy's picture and real name and address here aren't obvious to me.

  • Thank GOD for that dad and his research.  Freakin' creepy.
    Look with your special eyes.
  • WTF??? Why do they keep letting him out??
image "Evolutionary game theorists...ignoring beebees on the nest since 2005"
  • That's it, I'm locking my kid up in a bubble and never leaving the house.

Stuff like this creeps me out to no end. I still haven't been able to bring up a sex offender site yet and see if there are any near us. It'd probably make me insane.

    Oh, FFS.

THIS!  Maybe remove the fact that it's your H's BFF's son... but everything else should stay.

Yeah, that's probably better. I'll just edit later.

  • Indifferent wtf... the police never said why they let him go??

  • Please keep us updated, because holy shiiiit.
    Look with your special eyes.
  • It sounds like BF should be calling the local news since the cops are clearly incompetent wackjobs who can't be trusted to serve and protect.

  • I'm coming out of lurkerdom for this one.

WTF?!?! How could the cops let him walk away??

I will gladly come up there with pitchforks and torches to help roast this guys @ss.

I have 6 nieces and nephews- the thought of someone attempting this with them makes me see red. Hell, the thought of someone attempting this with ANY child makes me see red.

Nope. Not a word. Either time.

    Diicks.

    Already done.

Some of you don't know this... we're close to a famous family with lots o' kids. Yeah... one call to the right media outlet and it's game over.

  • I would also like to add- smart kid. He didn't just refuse, he went inside.
  • Thanks SO very much for the heads up.

Can you post the info? Car description, etc?

Fortunately the Geekling is still very shy around new people so I don't think this guy would have a chance in hell, but you never know.

People think I'm nuts, I'm sure, for not letting the Geekling out of my sight when we're outside and insist on holding his hand whenever we're out.  And this is why.  I know I'll have to "let go" at some point, but for now, I'm perfectly happy with the way things are.

I'll keep your H's BF and son in my thoughts.  I can't even fathom how nerve-wracking that must be knowing your child is a target.

And I second the idea that he needs to call the local news station.

Thanks to Imoan for flagging me on FB about your post!

I wish I had all the details. It was a relatively quick phone call... friend isn't supposed to take personal phone calls at work.

H is calling him back tonight, so I'll get him to get more information then and I'll send you a message on FB.

I'm sure I'll be the same way with DS. For now, he can't walk so he's strapped in a stroller when we're out and I keep contact with the stroller. Paranoid... perhaps. But then I hear this crap right in my backlard and I say fluck the paranoia, I'm keeping my hand on the stroller.

  • That's ridiculous.  How has be been let go twice?
  • Fvcked up world we live in. I'm fine with being over protective. I own it.
  • I would be calling/faxing the prosecutor's office.
    f.k.a.= Derniermot
  • Wouldn't this be some kind of parole violation or something? Ridiculous.

    This.

This is absolutely insane! I'm glad your friend's son is okay and had the sense to not go with this guy. I am stunned by the police reaction here. Just stunned. Ahh!
