IHO Boxer, another daycare related question

Will day cares deal with cloth diapers? I don't know why I am plagued with these silly worries so early on, but if my child ends up in day care, does this mean I should give up my dreams of cloth diapering?

Re: IHO Boxer, another daycare related question

  • My not-so-helpful answer is it depends.  I know some will, but a lot won't.  It can be something you look for as a deciding factor, though.  Also, from what I have heard through some friends, home-based daycares are sometimes more willing to work with cloth.  I don't know what your feelings are on in-home centers, but it could be something to consider.
  • The ones that I've talked to so far would not.  I'm sure there must be some that do, so if it's really a priority for you, you can probably find someone who'll work with you.  Right now I'd settle for somewhere that doesn't have "skool" in the title.

I hear ya.  Sadly, I was not able to avoid the horrors.  The daycare we use contains the phrase "lil rascalz."  It makes me cry inside.  I am in a small town, though, and my choices are all less than optimal.  Ugh.

  • I do live in hippy dippy parent central, so there's hope. I will be sure to stay away from "schools' with inappropriately spelled words.

  • I think it mostly depends on how hippie your locale is.  You should have no problems finding places that cloth diaper.  I think it's fairly common around here too.

  • I am so glad I don't work in a day care any more.

  • I thought for sure that I'd have a hard time finding a daycare that would be willing to use cloth diapers, but so far all three of the ones that I've interviewed are totally fine with it.  Two are in-home daycares and one is a center.

You must be new to the Portland metro if you thought that was going to be hard to find.

  • Ours does but our second choice didn't (part of the reason it was our second choice). It states state law as the reason it couldn't but I think that claim was unfounded. Out of 9 infants Isaiah is the only one who is in CD.
