W.W.Y.D.-Car Accident

Hey Ladies. I know I haven't been around a lot and just been lurking more. But last night Dh got rear-ended while he was going to his part time job. We went to the hospital as a precaution since his back, neck and arms were hurting. I missed work (I work overnights) since now we only have one car.

Now I know he hates lawyers, but I'm thinking we should get one. I don't know if he needs to go to a chiropractor since he hates going to the doctors.  But we are unsure of what to do next. Well he's talking to our insurance company right now. We haven't heard from the other insurance.

Plus he's in a kickball league. I talked him out of his practice tonight but he wants to play in his game on Monday.

 WWYD?

Thanks and please send any T&Ps!

 I may dd this later.

  • What did the doctors say at the hospital? I wouldn't contact lawyers unless it gets to the point that you need to get money for medical purposes. If medically there aren't any concerns, then I wouldn't worry about lawyers since your insurance will cover repairs on the car.

  • A lot of lawyers have free consultations for car injury cases so if it did seem you needed to go that route you could take advantage of that.  I think they would be able to tell you whether or not there's a case.

I would say to go to a chiropractor if your husband is still sore.  They will do x-rays, evaluate, and set up a course of treatment, if needed.  The other insurance company should cover the visits.  It's not something you would need a lawyer for.

The other insurance company will likely call and make you an offer to settle with them, especially since your husband already went to the hospital.  I would wait and make sure your husband's okay and see if he does need to go to the chiropractor before accepting anything from them.

*This is all just based off my own experiences.  Charlotte has some pretty terrible drivers!!

Hope everything works out okay and there's no long term pain for your husband.

  • Unless your husband was seriously injured, getting a lawyer seems like jumping the gun, IMO. As does talking him out of going to sports things. If he's not in pain and he feels up for it, he should be just fine.

  • Well hello! Nice to see you around... I don't have any advice, but I hope you husband feels better soon.

  • I'm just being paranoid and I guess I just want to make sure that we have everything covered. Yeah getting him convinced to see a doctor will be hard.

I think that they want him to get a follow up. But pretty much that its a neck/back muscle spasm. All the doctor did was pretty much feel him up but didn't do much to make sure he didn't have anything else wrong with his neck.
