Armoire vs Dresser (PIPs)

I use our second bedroom closet to store my clothes, etc.  I have this jewelry amoire in the room currently (disclaimer: I have a different mirror, this is the only pic I have while at work when I was trying to figure out stand vs mirror):

I feel like I have absolutely no space for storage (I do like the majority of things to be hanging, but as you can kind of see, my closet is tiny!).  I'm debating trying to sell the stand on CL and buying this IKEA dresser instead (we rent so I don't want to spend a ton of money on furniture at this point).

Do you think it'd be awkward to have the dresser on the left wall right when you walk in the room?  It's only a few inches deeper than the jewelry stand so I'm hoping it'd work?

I'll lose the jewelry storage, but figure I can dedicate one drawer of the dresser to jewelry.

For reference, this what the right of the room looks like:

WDYT? Keep the armoire or get the dresser?

Re: Armoire vs Dresser (PIPs)

  • Is it an option to replace the bookcase next to the bed with a tall dresser? I think the dresser next to the door would be fine, but if you're getting rid of the armoire, that specific dresser might not give you much storage, esp. if you use one drawer for jewelry.

Unfortunately no since the shelf serves as our little computer area for the desktop.  I could get rid of the nightstand and put the armoire there, but then I feel like it's too tall and the bed would feel very boxed in btwn the two pieces.

In that case, I'd replace the armoire with a dresser. You can always get one or two jewelry boxes that sit on top of it if you don't want to dedicate a whole drawer to jewelry storage. We live in a tiny place too - I feel your pain!

  • True on the jewelry boxes! Thanks for the input and glad to know some one can relate!
  • I think that dresser would look fine there. There are plenty of other ways to store jewelry - I have mine on a bulletin board that I covered with pretty paper and hung on the wall.
