What's your favorite Vegas hotel and why? We are going to go this summer and looking for one that isn't too expensive ($100-150 a night max) and that has things to do and walk to.

Re: Favorite Vegas Hotel?
I would say my top three favorites are The Cosmopolitan, Palazzo, and The Mirage. The Mirage has a great pool area which will be clutch in the summer time
I like those three hotels because even though they are large, they don't feel big. I don't feel like I am walking forever to get anywhere which is what I dislike about some of the other hotel/casinos on the Strip.
Of the three I mentioned, you can stay at Mirage for under $150/night in the summer no problem. Cosmo and Palazzo...not so much.
You can also use Priceline to get a Vegas hotel room...I have done it a few times and had good luck. Betterbidding.com will have a list of what hotels fall in what zone and under what star level.
Additionally signing up for hotel email lists is a great way to get a deal, especially in the summer.
For best deal and location, I think Flamingo always wins. It has an awesome location in the center of the strip (across from Ceasars) and has a great pools. Also, over the last two years they have been doing a bunch of renovations; my DH just came back from Vegas yesterday and said they open up an outdoor bar.
I have a post in my blog with reviews of all the hotels we've stayed at in Vegas. It's hard to say which is my favorite because it depends what I'm in town for. For your criteria, of the places I've stayed, I'd say Aria matches it the best. It's central and I'm always getting emails with good deals.
osumelissa is on the money with signing up to get emails from hotels when you find a few you like. They generally offer the best rates and there are usually sales in the summer. I've also gotten really good prices by doing air/hotel packages.
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.

Caesar's Palace was my favorite and we were able to get a gorgeous room around your price range on orbitz as a last minute deal. It is a great walking distance from everything on the strip and was a plus for us b/c we went to see Celine in the hotel.
I've heard good things about Flamingo too which is right across the street from Caesar's and has lower prices
I love staying at the Signature (MGM) because the 1 bedroom suites are huge & awesome & you get access to the amazing pool at MGM, as well as the more private pools at the Signature.
Again, I really recommend going to the hotel's website & signing up for their email deals.
