Fashionable = mishmash of items?
After viewing this post (as well as various other blog sites and posts), do you sometimes feel that something is deemed fashionable just because it's different and crazy?
This really annoys me. Just because someone has the confidence to wear something that looks like a major hodge podge of random items from their closet does not mean they are fashionable.
I think it's great when someone is a bit inventive and comes up with a unique look, but the above example is just not it, in my opinion.
What do you think?
Re: Fashionable = mishmash of items?
IMO- that outfit is not fashion. It's like a little kid playing dress up at Goodwill.
(It annoys me too, which is why I can never find a fashion blog to stay with.)
I had to double check that she didn't have a mustache.
I look like this on the weekends if I have go out of the house unexpectedly. I didn't realize I was the height of fashion, I thought I was more of a "too lazy to get out of pjs and/or find matching clothes on my days off" person.
I do not like mismash outfits, and I feel like even certain catalogs I used to shop in are going mismash or have been for a while (I'm looking at you, J. Crew).
in general, I feel like I don't 'get' The Sartorialist
I have a couple blogs that I like that I think do a good job of wearing 'normal' things with trendy twists or interesting new ideas (Extra Petite, Wendy's Lookbook, love Maegan).

If anti-fashion becomes fashion then what becomes of fashion?
Blessed are the tastemakers, for they shall inherit the blogosphere.
Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
Helloooo Man Repeller. I read her regularly because she's funny, and she has some GORGEOUS things (especially shoes) but her styling is completely ridiculous. I get that it's her schtick, but people act like she's a fashion goddess.
Haha, I had her in mind when I wrote the post too. There are some things I like, but overall her style is way too ridiculous. However, I saw her while out shopping one day and she was dressed totally normal. She had a slouchy sweater, waxed jeans and boots. Nothing over the top.
*LOL* This! That does not look at all fashionable.

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
I feel a lot of blogs are making a whole lot of fug "oh so fabulous".
I don't believe that following trends makes one automatically stylish nor does completely going against trends make you original.
Some of the blogs I encounter make me roll my eyes. Then when I see the price of putting together an outfit costs over a $1000, I want to cry (If I ever spend mega bucks on an outfit, I want to look polished. Not like a hobo). Yet everyone is all, "OMG! You.are.amazing!". I sometimes have the feeling of "the emperor has no clothes, people!"
Pretty much it looks like they take everything from their closet, throw it on the ground, roll around in it while getting dressed, and VOILA! Oh so chic blogger! Stop the press!
Oh, Sartorialist... that is awful.
This is kind of in the same vein: http://www.thesartorialist.com/photos/on-the-street-prince-st-nyc/
Oh my god, that is even worse.
