If you were trying to tone up/trim down your core
How would you go about it? I know I can't spot reduce but I feel like I might be doing something wrong as far as core training. It's always been harder for me to lose weight in my middle, but never this drastic. I feel like the remaining weight I have left to lose is all in my stomach! I run 4 days a week, walk or use the eliptical 2 days and have one rest day. I use Jillian Michaels no more trouble zones and Yoga meltdown 3-4 days a week. I only drink water, limits my processed foods...is there something I am missing? Maybe a better ab workout that you know of?
Re: If you were trying to tone up/trim down your core
Butting in: FTL regarding sugar cut from diets, do you eat yogurt ( I think sugar is in yogurt).
Limit your sodium intake too and see if that makes a difference. Some mornings my belly looks great, other times I am bloated as hell. My weight fluctuates +/- 5 lbs and a lot is in my belly. Abs are made in the kitchen.

Similar experience as PP, so interjecting as well: No. No yogurt.
Yup! I do. I eat greek nonfat yogurt (ie, I do not TOUCH the flavored stuff). It's not considered a "refined" sugar. Sugar is also in fruit, and I eat fruit. Basically I don't eat the cookies and candy crap that's horrible for you. I read every label. If I don't know an ingredient, it's not going into my stomach.
To add... A lot of yogurts have "natural" sugars.. but you still have to be careful as to what that means. For example Greek Gods Nonfat Plain has the following ingredients:
Nonfat milk (this is where the "sugar" come from..and as of now I do drink nonfat milk... but I have been researching to decide whether I should cut it out or not)
Inulin- a common agent that acts like a sugar but isn't. It adds a flavor, but it's not a sugar, sugar sustitute, sugar alcohol, etc. it's actually characterized as a soluble fiber that aids in the growth of "good" digestion bacteria. I believe it's used with pectin as a gelling agent. ie the Pectin and Inulin give the milk the "yogurt" texture
Pectin (see above)

Are you food logging? I couldn't do it either until I did two things:
1. Got it ALL out of my house.
2. Started food logging..
When I started seeing how much of my diet was going towards crap food, I was VERY motivated to change and stick to it.. I don't miss the stuff anymore. The cravings go away after a month or so.
When you go to the grocery store, eat something that has weight to it like oatmeal or a banana.. then your grumbly tummy isn't leaning you in the wrong direction. Also, only shop along the outside of the store.. Then you will hit the fruits, veggies, meats, dairy, etc... But you won't even SEE the cookie aisle.
This is AMAZING advice! I never really looked at it that way but you're right. And for the most part.....since starting to eat healthy about a month ago.......I haven't been down any of those aisles. And I hadn't even noticed! lol
I am food logging, doing WW actually :^) As soon as I get home today I am going through and cleaning out my kitchen....all that leftover Easter candy, gone! I do try to stick towards the edges in the grocery store for the most part. The problem for me is DH isn't really on board with that much healthy eating. He eats pretty well but not totally clean. I don't want to make him so I have to deal with this stuff in my house. Luckily he doesn't really like the sweet stuff, just the crackers and things like that. Wish me luck! I'm hoping can get through the first few weeks or so and get over the cravings before all the summer festivities start! Thank you for your help!
Other posters gave great diet advice, but if you still needed an exercise recommendation I can recommend Turbo Fire DVDs. It engages your core and has HIIT to melt fat. My abs greatly trimmed down and that's a feat after 2 kids.
some of it is definitely from having 2 kids ( 2 C-Sections noless!) But there is definitely fat there to lose...
