does anyone else's husband have good idea amnesia?

here's the deal.  i will have a great idea.  i will share it with the husband.  he will be somewhat noncommittal.  at some point in the relatively near future, he will then share an "orginal" great idea with me, except it was my great idea.  butthead.

current example:

-my fil has been passive-aggressively hinting that he wants to have this certain type of cuisine when he comes to visit us (ribs, if you must know).  but he doesn't suggest it, he just hints.  it makes me crazy.  we wouldn't ever go to a rib place because we're vegetarians.

-but i'm nice.  so i tell my husband "i asked around, and X is supposed to be the best rib place around and is apparently super dive-y so will have that authentic rib experience your dad is craving."

-husband is all "um, i guess."

-**4 weeks pass**

-i get an email today from my husband, with a link to the menu at X.  email says "i think we should take my dad here when he comes to visit, he's been asking about ribs.  i heard it was good."

-MY HEAD EXPLODES.  you heard it was good from me, the person who thought up this plan in the first goddamned place.

Re: does anyone else's husband have good idea amnesia?

  • YES.  And he tells me jokes that he heard "somewhere" (from me).

  • Oh yes. It is sometimes only a good idea if someone has suggested it to the fiance weeks after I have.  Then its all "Look at this brilliance I've discovered" and I'm all "Dude, I told you that ages ago" and he's all "whut?"
Seriously, people. If your faith in humanity is destroyed because your parents told you there was a Santa Claus and as it turns out there is no Santa Claus, you are an ignorant, hypersensitive cry baby with absolutely zero perspective. - UnderwaterRhymes
  • Yes. Except he doesn't steal the idea for himself. He comes to me all raving about some idea some friend/family member told him about, that he just HAD TO TELL ME.

Except no. We've already had this convo before. I'm bored now. Go get excited by yourself.

This is exactly what my DH does all of the time.  It's always a co-worker that told him.

  • Yep.

And when I call him out on it, he insists that "YOU do the exact same thing!!!" Although he can never, ever, ever think of an example. (And I can think of 23 so far this year.) Hmmph.

  • I wonder if thats how my Hubbs feels when I do that to him... but, I don't mean too. OBVIOUSLY!

    EX:

I say "Hey I heard this on the radio the other day.. Did you know that blank blank blank?" and he says... "Yes, I TOLD YOU THAT!"

  • H doesn't do this so much as a friend of mine who is on the board from hell with me.

For weeks I've been saying that we need to do a certain thing to draw attention to the fact that we are having a capital campaign.

Yesterday someone at the board meeting suggested that we do exactly what I have been saying we should do and he said "You know, that's a really great idea. We're definitely doing that."

    Hmm
