England Info?

So we are nerds and want to see something specific in England...about 20 miles North-West of London. This will only be a day though, and we are thinking about going for a week.

What to do? What to see? Where to stay? Any tips?

Re: England Info?

  • I live in England and can't answer your question - what are you asking?  Where are you thinking about going to?  What is the 20 miles North-West of London?  What do you mean by this is only a day but you are spending a week?  Seriously, the question makes no sense to me.  Are you asking about what to do in London, places to do a day trip outside of London?

  • I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be so vague.

We are thinking of going for about a week but only have one thing planned on our itinerary. We are not sure where to stay. ie...London or someplace a little outside of London but still has easy access to get places. Are there any *must see* places you can recommend? Places to stay? Tips on navigating public transportation?

I think there are obvious sites (Buckingham Palace) but there are many that I am sure we do not know about or would even think about.

  • Just to note my favorite things we did in England:

     The Cotswold

    Stonehenge

    Windsor Castle

     Seeing Wicked

  • I guess we have to beg for what the one thing is.

Thanks for the suggestions! I absolutely love Wicked. We are going to see it for the 2nd time in a couple weeks.

Oops! I wasn't evading. We want to go to the Warner Bros Studio. That will only be for the day though, so we would love to travel around while there.

  • Have you ever been to London before?  If not, you can spend the entire time there as there are TONS to do in London.  I think there are a few posts down below of suggestions from people about trips.  If you have been to London before, then I would do a trip to the Cotswolds, including Bath for a few days - it's gorgeous and what many people think "England" should be like.

  • No, We have never been. Thanks for the advice! Ill just need to do research on where to stay etc. Originally we were thinking of going in December but now we are thinking June 2013. While I'm sure it will be more expensive do you think it gets TOO expensive during that time?

Yes, that is prime tourist season.  You'd probably save a ton of money to go in the winter, avoiding holidays
