I did read THG while we were in Aruba.
I actually enjoyed it, it's YA fiction but it's not pandering. It's pretty well-written and I tend to like dystopian/science fiction. I liked it well enough to read the next one in the series.
Plus I liked the idea of the whole fighting to the death thing.
I did cry though in one part, I cried like a baby, on the beach, lol.
Did you read The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo? I finally finished it (also in Aruba) and I really liked it.
