Poll: Favorite "healthy" treats/snacks (I found some new favs!)

You gals are so helpful, I love hearing your feedback on H&F things.

My Mom recently turned me on to the Fiber Plus Chocolate Chip bars and Fiber One Brownies. They're SO good that you almost feel guilty ;)

Just curious, what is your favorite "healthy" treat or snack during the day (or night)?  I know I'll get burnt out on these eventually and would love to hear your ideas.

  • Oh! And VitaTops... dang, those things are delicious!  I'm normally not a sweets person but I've been on a rampage lately.

  • Greek yogurt, Trader Joe's shredded wheat cereal (really, I love many kinds of cereals), Babybel Light w/a few ww crackers.

Whole Foods Chocolate Chip Muffins. They are organic, so they are good for me. Wink

  • Banana cut into about 1 inch chunks dipped into melted semi sweet chocolate chips topped with crushed almonds, 3 pieces is 117 calories.
  • I love fruit and cholate, dark chocolate....I use cocoa a lot as a substitute.
  • Ooh! I have lots!

    Popchips

    Vitatops/VitaBrownies

    Trader Joe's pomegranate/blueberry sherbert

    WhoNu? cookies

    Fiber One Brownies

Berries with some chocolate syrup sprinkled on top

    Edy's Fruit Bars

the list goes on and on . . .

    Edy's Fruit Bars

These are my go-to in the summer when I'm feeling like I need a treat.

  • TMI - those Fiber One snacks give me the worst gas pains.  Like, I thought I was going to DIE.  Which is a shame, they are tasty.

I love some homemade granola sweetened with dandelion honey.  I mix in dark chocolate chips and Craisins if I want it to be super tasty.

Anything I can put some of the TJ's chocolate whey protein powder in is great.  That stuff is amazing.

Otherwise, fresh fruit is my go-to.  I love a broiled grapefruit sweetened with some honey, or just a banana with peanut butter.

  • my healthy snacks are usually just fresh fruit.  I can't eat those Fiber One bars...I tried a brownie a couple days ago and it tasted like pure chemicals to me (even though I ate it anyway!) and a couple hours later it was not pleasant in my house.

Now if we were talking about unhealthy snacks I could go on and on :)

  • I try to avoid sweet healthy snacks, only because it sends me into a spiral of wanting more/more/more, so I do more savory options. I like vegetables & a tzatiki (sp?) greek yogurt dip. I get it at Costco, but should make it myself - it's awesome! I also like edamame for a snack, & trail mix (which can be high on calories).

I also like vanilla protein smoothies blended with a banana. . . . "almost" like a banana milkshake, if you get the consistency right. :-)

When I want a bigger/higher calorie treat, I go for coffee flavored frozen yogurt with a (small) sprinkle of the crushed Reese's cup on it. I keep the portion super tiny to make the calories manageable, but I do love it.

  • I am obsessed with strawberries right now. Like sit down and eat the whole pint obsessed. I especially love them with cottage cheese.

    Other current healthyish obsessions...

    Salsa + anything

    popchips

popcorn (with splenda, cinnamon and a little salt)

    oatmeal with vanilla and blueberries

whole wheat english muffins + pb

Cereal: Either TJ's bran flakes or Special K Protein Plus

    chocolate almond milk

  • I really like the Skinny Cow candy.  I got a Costco pack for DH and was pleasantly surprised at how good everything was.  For my crunchy fix, I eat Pirate's Booty or Trader Joe's Reduced Fat Cheese Puffs (= not as bad for you Cheetos!).  I try to eat a lot of fruit (esp. bananas), edamame, or carrots + hummus.

  • Ha-ha, funny story about those Fiber One bars...co-worker & I tried them & thought they were as good as candy bars.  We each had at least two and we were pretty miserable the next day.

Trader Joe's has fruit leathers.  Not sure of the exact name but the regular ones are WW points and the fiber added ones are 1 point.  I thought the apricot one was amazing.

I like Larabars too but wow, those are a lot of calories.  I don't buy them often but when I do I try to treat them like candy & eat a third or fourth at a time.

  • I agree - anything by VitaTops and Fiber One is delish!! Also, fruit roll ups (natural or homemade) are good options.
  • I can't think of the brand name, but I like these tortilla chips with flax seed that I found at Safeway.  Also, homemade popcorn popped in olive oil with a sprinkle of sea salt.
  • Kellogg's Fiber Plus Dark Chocolate & Almond Bars

Weight Watchers Smoked Mozzarella string cheese

Dark Chocolate Roasted Almonds are my newest "guilty" pleasure

Skinny Cow just introduced a new Mocha/Coffee Flavored Ice Cream bar that is really good.  I also like their Mint Truffle Bars and WW's Latte Ice Cream

    I'm obviously big on sweets...

I also eat a lot of fresh fruit for snacks - whatever looks good when I'm grocery shopping...
