I'm planning a trip with DH. We've never been to Disney or Sanibel Islands and we'd like some input.
I'm curious how the basic meal plan works. I made reservations for the Aloha show and the California grill. When I booked they said it would use up 2 dinner services each, but we only have 3 from what I understand (we're staying 3 nights so I'm guessing it's 1 lunch, 1 snack and 1 dinner per day). What's the best way to utilize the meal plan?
Here's our itinerary so far for mid-July. Any suggestions?
- Disney's contemporary resort (3 nights). we booked a basic meal plan and a 3 day park hopper pass.
-1st day: suggestions? (we check in at 11am)
-1st night: reserved Disney's spirit of Aloha dinner show at 8pm at the Polynesian (we're pescetarians, I think they can accommodate our diets as long as we give them notice, correct?)
-2nd morning character breakfast at the contemporary (would you suggest reservations?)
-2nd day: visit Magic Kingdom ( any must-see spots?)
-2nd night: watch fireworks at the contemporary (booked california grill for 9:15)
- 3rd day maybe epcot and do lunch at the coral reef?
we leave on a tuesday, I'm visiting my FIL for 2 nights, then we drive to the Sanibel Harbour Marriott Resort & Spa in Fort Meyers on a Thursday and stay until Saturday.
Suggestions for in and around Ft. Myers/Sanibel?
Re: Disney & Sanibel virgins, suggestions?
You'll definitely need reservations for Chef Mickey's.
However many nights you stay is how many dinners you get. Be careful, all of the restaurants you listed are sit down so you would be over your limit (no biggie just means you have to pay for them). In July you are pretty much going to need to make a reservation at just about any sit down place - esp ones like Chef Mickey's and Coral Reef. I just made my reservations for all my dinners when we go in June
On our first day down we always hit Epcot because the world showcase doesnt open until later - but that is personal preference because we don't see as much in the Future World part of Epcot.
When you make your reservations, if you are doing dinner remember that there are parades and fireworks at night which are always fun to see in the parks. Have fun!!
Since you are there 3 nights you will each get 3 snack, 3 quick service, and 3 table service credits that you can use any way you want any time you want up to midnight the day you check out. Yes, the luau and California Grill would use 2 credits per person so you are going to have to check and see what is the best way for you to use credits and when to pay out of pocket.
We use the snack credit for breakfast (bagel, yogurt, muffin, etc), quick service for lunch, and table service for dinner.
With all the reservations you are thinking of, you might want to look into the Deluxe Dining Plan. It would give you 2 snack credits and any 3 meal credits per person per day.
Like PP said, you will need reservations for any table service meals and since you are going at a peak time, make them asap! When you make reservations, be sure to let them know about dietary restrictions- they are great to work with on that.
