NPCER: Les Miserables movie
Re: NPCER: Les Miserables movie
Wasn't there already a recent movie adaption? I think it was in the late 90s or early 2000s. Off to Google.
ETA: 1998! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119683/ I didn't remember Uma Thurman in this one.
my read shelf:
I think that one was an adaptation of the book while this one is supposed to be a film version of the musical.
Yeah, the one with Liam Neeson, Claire Danes, and Uma Thurman. I've got in somewhere in my ridiculously long Netflix queue, but haven't seen it yet.
Anne Hathaway annoys me, so I'm less excited for her version. I'm sure I'll see it eventually too though.
my read shelf:
DD #1 passed away in January 2011 at 14 days old due to congenital heart disease
DD#2 lost in January 2012 at 23 weeks due to anhydramnios caused by a placental abruption
i can't stand anne hathaway. what a crappy choice.
and yes, they did a non-musical version. claire danes was cosette. blech.
THis is movie version #2 as there was more than one musical version as well.
LOVE Les Miserables - one of my favorites. I don't care who plays the roles as long as they do a good job.
While I love Hugh Jackman, he seems just too young to me for Valijean.
I'm not sure how I feel about RusseLl Crowe as Javert,
I think my feelings have far more to do with me being stuck with the mental picture of Hugh Jackman in the first Xmen movie ~a decade ago than his real age
But I also tend to mentally picture the older Valijean vs the Valijean at the beginning of the book. That, and well, Colm Wilkinson will always be my mental picture of Valijean.
I actually like Crowe as Javert.
I hate watching Claire Danes cry. Any ounce of sympathy I'm supposed to have for her character goes out the window once heifer starts bawling.
Click me, click me!
True.
I guess this movie is getting some early Oscar buzz, but I bet it will turn out like "Nine." Another movie that has major awards hype is Spielberg's "Lincoln" with Daniel Day-Lewis and Sally Field.
Are we thinking of the same Anne Hathaway? I dunno, I just can't see the chick from The Princess Diaries & Get Smart as thinking of herself as 'edgy'.
