Re: & so I can fill my Kindle, a book poll.
Best book you've read lately? I'm in the middle of The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks and it's really good.
Best book you've ever read? I don't think I have a favorite.
Book you didn't like/couldn't get in to/were disappointed by?The Particular Sadness of Lemon CakeBest book you've read lately? Just finished Let's Pretend This Never Happened (a mostly true memoir) by Jenny Lawson aka The Bloggess. Hilarious and I may have actually teared up a few times.
Best book you've ever read?I don't know if I could ever pick...I do love Pride and Prejudice
Book you didn't like/couldn't get in to/were disappointed by?The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo...so GD slow in the beginning. I still have it on my Nook maybe I'll take another crack at it this summer.
Right now I'm reading Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling (Kelly from The Office). I also read Elizabeth, the Queen over the winter...it's a biography on Elizabeth II...very good. I also want to read The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien.
Best book you've read lately? I re-read Hunger Games before the movie came out and it was still awesome.
Best book you've ever read? I can't pick. I love Water For Elephants and the Outlander series a lot. I also love Harry Potter. I'm all over the map.
Book you didn't like/couldn't get in to/were disappointed by? The Host by Stephenie Meyer. I only read a chapter or so. I got into Twilight b/c of vampires and romance but Stephenie is not a good writer so I couldn't look past the grammar and writing style enough to read a semi-Sci-Fi.
Dang, I knew I liked you. I read all three Larsson books and didn't like them. And P&P will forever be my favorite book.
Lately....I read Rules of Civility by Amor Towles and loved it. Set in the1930s, very fun. Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay about the Nazi invasion of Paris in the 40s was good. Oh! Destiny of the Republic by Candice Millard about President Garfield's presidency and death, very good. I'm also reading the A Song of Fire and Ice series (Game of Thrones). Entertaining as well.
I changed my name
I'm on the fourth book of the game of thrones series. I'm enjoying it. I bought the first four as a set for my kindle - cheaper than buying them individually. I plan on buying book five soon.
It's hard to state the "best book"... most of what I read is brain candy, so it's for simple enjoyment at the time, but none are really great amazing works of literature. I really liked Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card, and the Honor Harrington Series by David Weber. I love pretty much anything by Robert Heinlein, but he does kinda qualify as a dirty old man (this makes sense when you read his books...).
I read a pretty good kindle book called "Wool". The name grabbed me (I'm a knitter), but the story in the books was pretty nifty. If I remember correctly, it's four short stories followed by a novel all together.
The more recent non-fiction I've read are "On Hallowed Ground". It's about the history of Arlington, and was really neat to read. That and "Welcome to Your Brain: Why You Lose Your Car Keys but Never Forget How to Drive". It was a lighter read about the structure of the brain.
As you can tell, I'm kinda a fan of sci-fi/fantasy books...
I'm not sure I can think of much that I didn't like. Mostly, if I don't like the sample, I don't bother trying to get more into the book...
Best book you've read lately? I haven't finished it yet but I am enjoying 11/22/63 by Stephen King
Best book you've ever read? I can't choose just one, but I really love The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. It's one I can read over and over again.
Book you didn't like/couldn't get in to/were disappointed by? Hmm, I can't think of one right now
Best book you've read lately?
-Redeeming Love, Divergent
Best book you've ever read?
Book you didn't like/couldn't get in to/were disappointed by?-To Kill A Mockingbird. No contest. If I have another son, he'll be Atticus Finch Lastname, already cleared with DH.
-Delirium. Awful.
I'm onto this next, I'm excited!
I read mostly non-fiction.
1. Steve Jobs's biography
2. A Year By The Sea -Joan Anderson. It's a memoir about the year the author spent away from her husband (in their cottage on Cape Cod) re-evaluating her marriage and her path in life. It's filled with all sorts of interesting philosophical musings on marriage, family, womanhood, friendship, work, religion, etc... Just fascinating.
3. Lately all fiction I try to read I can't get into. I'm not sure why. Everyone raves about The Hunger Games but I'm just meh.
Be my friend too because have the exact same interests in books. I recently read Te Night Strangers by Chris Bohjalian. It was good. I've read a few of his and always enjoyed it. Ditto irish's suggestions for Game of Thrones. Easy read. I have more but I am completely blanking right now. Ohh I like Kate Morton's books as well.
I'll have to check it out too. I've heard good things about it from others.

Best book you've ever read? Redeeming Love / Mark of the Lion series by Francine Rivers. I love her.

Best book you've read lately? Hunger Games
Best book you've ever read? To Kill a Mockingbird and I really loved Catcher in the Rye too.
Book you didn't like/couldn't get in to/were disappointed by? Harry Potter. I got 28 pages into the first one and just couldn't do it. Also Outlander. I really want to like it and I can make it about 300 pages into the first one but I just can't get all the way through.Next up for me are The Zookeeper's Wife and another on that I can't remember at the moment.
