What do you feed a vegan???

Please don't say lettuce!  Brett is determined to place a block of lettuce on his sister's plate and call it a night.  Ugh.

She doesn't eat meat, fish, eggs or dairy.  So what is safe to feed her without torturing the rest of us?  There is no way in hell that I am cooking 2 seperate meals for this woman.  Any ideas?

  • What about a pasta dish with vegetables?

  • I just bookmarked this recipe - you could even do some grilled chicken for the non-vegans

Pasta has eggs and stuff in it. I think it's a no-go.

But maybe you could do spaghetti squash?

  • What are you feeding everyone else?  I have a couple of friends who are vegan, and I've found it isn't actually that hard to make them the same or something similar to what everyone else is eating.  I even hosted one for Thanksgiving.

I'm happy to help you adapt if you'd like to share recipes you're considering.

  • Also, if you have a Whole Foods or even a pretty stocked grocery store, you can find vegan pasta, milk and butter replacements, etc.

    Are you open to grilling?

  • MBMC - Haha!!  Funny...

Steeser - Good Idea!  That paleo dish looks awesome!

    Nooner - That looks yummy!

TDMD - spagetti squash sounds interesting.

Mary - I haven't figured out what I'm feeding everyone else yet and we love to grill.  I just found out late yesterday that they were all coming.  And wow!   Those sites look awesome!

So many good ideas!  Thank you ladies.

  • Grilling is the EASIEST thing to do with a vegan.

Make whatever you want for everyone else.  Grill a vegan burger (these are the ones my friend prefers: http://www.sunshineburger.com/  )

Cut up lots of seasonal veggies (we usually do zucchini, summer squash, red and green pepper, onion and asparagus), add 1T olive oil, salt and pepper, and wrap in foil to form packet.  Add to grill when there are 6 min left- do 3 min each side.

Buns are optional bc they're sometimes hard to find, but if you have a Whole Foods you can pick up a single vegan bun.

  • I vote for the paleo dish that Stees posted because I'm not even vegan or paleo but I still want to eat it. Badly.

  • You could do a mediterannean theme and do hummus, baba ganoush, couscous, veggies, and maybe kabobs and feta on the side for the meat eaters. Just make sure if you get couscous, it isn't flavored with butter or chicken stock:

  • You've received fabulous suggestions and I have nothing to add other than every time I read this post title I read "What do you feed a vagina?". Idk why.  I'm dirty.
