I can't comment on your latest blog post at work (damn f'ing work internet) but zomg duckies! Not sure if it helps at all, but when I was 6 my parents thought it would be a genius idea to get their three little girls (aged 6, 4, and 2) three little mallard ducklings. Mind you, we lived in suburban Cincinnati (West Siiiiiiide, for anyone familiar with the area we lived in Cheviot).
So the ducks lived in our kitchen in a huge wooden box until they got big, and then in a baby pool in our backyard (with coming in the house at night) until they were full grown and we took them out to my dad's friend's farm in Lawrenceburg. Which is where they should have lived all along, but what can I say? My parents were clueless
30 ducklings can't be THAT much different, can it? I kid, I kid...I'm just glad you guys have a lot more land than we did! Can't wait to see pictures, and hear about the smackdown you put on Chris when you get stuck doing the majority of the work. Because you don't have enough going on or anything...
Hope you're still feeling well!

Would you have to do much else for the ducks besides feed them (which would be a PITA itself, I imagine)? Duke may well have a field day with those damn ducks...what possessed Chris to want to get ducks, anyway?
We have about a dozen Canadian geese that Chris is trying to evict from our pond. He is convinced that the ducks will drive the geese out. I'm convinced that he is wrong. I think he should just hang out with Duke outside more because when Duke descends on the pond those geese sure get moving fast!
ETA: I have no idea what one has to do to take care of a duck. I know that Chris plans to transform Duke's crate into a duck house. Not sure what happens after that.
Wait, I know one thing that happens after that: Duke will probably go Tony Montana on us and start eating sheetrock again. Picture giant dark muzzled dog + white powder all over his face looking at you like "Whaaa?"

I think you're right and he's wrong...geese are, in my experience, mean as hell and don't let ducks drive them away from anything. From what I remember of my duck experience, we (ahem, my mom) had to feed them and make sure they had water (the latter wouldn't be an issue for you guys since you have a pond, not sure about the food part) and clean out their box once or twice a week (because when they were babies, the box was in our kitchen...it got relocated outside once it got warmer and they got bigger). Hopefully these guys are fairly low maintenance!
Oh, and that Duke doesn't decide to go Tony Montana on you guys again. But if he does...please take pictures

I should.
I think we are just going to end up with a whole lot of birds. Our pond is 2 acres. There is probably enough room for the geese and the ducks.
