Which dress for wedding? PIPs
I'm trying to stick with something I already own.
Evening wedding in June - which of these works best? Or should I just get something new?
This one is silk

Linen/cotton with embroidery (I'm holding the top back because I'm having it taken in a bit up top)

Close up of embroidery

This one is linen/silk with beading at the neckline

So, I don't know what do y'all think? Are these maybe not dressy enough? Should I be wearing something more cocktail? I'd obviously dress them up a bit with jewelry and such, but I'm just wondering if I should start looking for a new dress.
Thanks!
Re: Which dress for wedding? PIPs
I know I keep thinking they're a little casual too. Hmm... I'll probably keep looking and pack all three for backup in case I can't find something better.
they are all cute.
I like the 3rd dress the best... but depending on what it looks like in person, could be too casual for an evening wedding (but would wear to a morning or afternoon wedding in a heartbeat).
The 1st one, I think the color makes it dressier somehow, but the neckline looks very slip-like to me, which makes it look casual as well.
the 2nd one, to me is the most dressy looking-- but the fabric being cotton worries me a little.
Overall-- I think it really depends on your circles. Do people wear true evening gowns to weddings in your circles?
In mine-- there are weddings I would wear this to as I know it would be similar looking dresses and others that I would not as it is truely a black tie type crowd.
Thank you, it's from French Connection, but it's old:(
I was actually thinking the same thing regarding the first dress that it seems more casual in person than the other two.
This wedding is definitely not a black tie type event, and people I know who are attending will probably be in cocktail dresses or dresses similar to these.
I was kind of leaning towards the second dress as well. It's linen but it's got a bit of a sheen to it that makes it a bit dressier. I think I could find some fun blingy shoes maybe to go with it, since with the neckline, jewelry might be difficult to decide on. I was thinking some cute bracelets or something and simple earrings.
I think #1 could be dressed up the best. #2 and #3 both look day-timey to me.
I totally disagree that the slip-like neckline of the 1st one makes it look more casual. I actually think it makes it look more elegant.
Definitely the 2nd, I love it, it's very "now" and I think it's perfect for the wedding you described. The embellishments are gorgeous! You could jazz it up with coral or turquoise accessories and you're good to go.
Although the 1st dress looks good on you, to me it just seems a little "dated" with the big floral print, I dunno, I'm not loving it.
The 3rd dress is cute but looks way too casual.
Thank you, birkbop:) you made my day!
and thanks everyone else too for weighing in! I think I will try them on for some friends because it seems that maybe the dresses look different here than they do in person. I think I'll still be on the hunt for something better if the right dress comes along.
This was my thought too.
