ever made a trip for a specific food?
I grew up about 2 hours from where I am now. In my old neighborhood was an amazing greek place with the most amazing gyros, greek dressing, and garlic bread. I've been thinking about it a lot lately and asked husband if he would drive there with me tomorrow for lunch. He did not think a 2 hour drive there and a 2 hour drive back for lunch was worth it.
I do
So make me feel better. Ever done something like this?
Re: ever made a trip for a specific food?
Yes. My mom and I love Chick-fil-a. There is only one in Wisconsin which is hour and a half away from us. We used to drive down for the Chick-fil-a and then drive to the outlet mall.
I would totally go. There is a local drive in by my parents house that I love too. Makes for a good excuse to go up to visit them and then get Chester's.

I've made plans this summer to go to Canada and I already know where I'll have lunch and dinner on the way up and dinner on the way home.
Oh I planned out my food trips while we were in the US. AND I gained 8 pounds.

This wasn't exactly planned, but we had a layover in Chicago a few years ago and I knew there was a Chili's in that airport and I miss their chips ?& salsa like no other. First thing off the plane I found the Chili's on the map and made a beeline. It was every bit as delicious as I remembered!
I also went on a hunt for a Subway in Madrid and got lost looking for it for about an hour. It was also, of course, worth it to get my soft-bread tuna sandwich. NOM!
So, I don't think that's crazy at all.
Yes, DH and I have gone from NYC to Philly just for a meal. It's about a 2 hour-ish train ride.
I pre-looked at the airport maps for Cincinnati, Philadelphia, and Atlanta to get food from my favorite places.

We used to do the same but for McDonald's!
I drove from MI to OH for Chick-fil-a, several times.
But it was only an hour drive, and we went shopping too. So worth it.
My parents flew from Atlanta to Madrid for their anniversary for the weekend just to have lamb at a specific restaurant.
I used to drive from DC to near Quantico just for Waffle House in college.
Do you know the name of the restaurant in Madrid? I love lamb and if they came here just to eat it then it has to be great.
Sure, love to go up to Tuscany for food (and wine). I'd go every weekend if I could.
I think my favorite story would be my run up from DC to Philly and back on our first Valentine's Day as a couple to get H's favorite chicken parm to-go (near where he grew up, but somewhere I'd never been before).
I do this (about 5hrs round trip) after a full day of work, not eating anything (it was also Ash Wednesday so I was fasting), and sleuthing out the location of this joint (pre-GPS days). H's response when I roll in at about midnight-- 'you did what?! I'm a little scared.' Just what every hungry/tired girl wants to hear!
It's actually funny to me now, b/c contrary to how this may read, Mr. VAB is a very sweet person and a great husband. He just has zero romance, zero.
Its actually in sepulveda, it's called tinins. They only serve lamb, salad, bread and asparagus. I have been probably 10 times, I don't eat lamb and even I love it just for the salad and asparagus!
