A girl who I used to be very good friends with back in high school and even through most of college, lost her dad this week. The services are tomorrow evening. They are in CT (I am in MA). I am undecided about whether I should make the trip down or not. Like I said, we USED to be very good friends, but kind of drifted and really haven't seen or even talked much since my wedding, which was obviously almost 3 years ago. She is getting married this summer, we weren't invited to her wedding (this is how much we have really drifted apart, she really is just someone I used to be friends with at this point).
So should I make the trip down and go to the services? It would be a 2.5 hour drive. Or do I just send a card and leave it at that?
Re: WWYD
I'd send a card and leave it at that.
At FIL's funeral there were a lot of people who the family hadn't seen recently and they showed up to pay respects and reconnect/catch up, so to speak. As well-meaning as it was, it was exhausting dealing with them all.

This is VERY true. Some of my co-workers said the same things as both of you. I think I will just do the card and not worry about making the trip down.
