This makes me so sad! I've been wearing BJ since I was a little girl (my mom and I had a matching "mommy and me" outfit from the 80s back when she did that sort of thing) and ALL of my fancy (high school dance) dresses were BJ. My favorite shoes of all time are BJ! I admit, her aesthetic is not for everyone, but I personally love some the bright colors and wild/quirky stuff.

I'm sad too! It looks like her stuff will still be around. I hope she can stay true to her aesthetic where she's still able to produce lines and doesn't have to compromise.
I hate what this economy is doing to the great designers. Norma Kamali had to move into WalMart for a while. Vera Wang is at Kohl's. Cynthia Rowley has expanded into everything. Everyone seems to have to dilute their lines for the masses, expand into home goods, or go bankrupt.
I don't understand how she survived the 90's and now that 80's clothes are back in full force, she's going BK now. It seems like her stuff would be more popular now than 10-15 years ago.
About 4 years ago I found a bag of hers in TJMaxx and figured she was just watering down her line. Seems to happen to a lot of designers.
this is totally true!! I think my favorite bra I bought by 'accident' just because I thought it was cute (and was in my size, which is a little hard to find).

Was it from her boutiques or her Betseyville line? The cheaper, Betseyville can be found everywhere in the discount stores.
