Jamaica or Virgin Islands?

DH and I are planning our 10 year anniversary for next summer.  Our anniversary is at the end of June, but we'd probably go in April or September/October.

Please recommend your favorite resort in Jamaica or the Virgin Islands? DH doesn't want to just lay on a beach. We need stuff to do. We'll probably go for 7 days / 6 nights.  Also, can you provide information on cost?

Re: Jamaica or Virgin Islands?

  • In Jamaica I felt confined to the resort.  We did leave but it wasn't recommended.

I think there is a lot more to do in USVI, including take a day sail to the BVI -- lol.

  • Virgin Islands!  We've staying in St. Thomas twice, but often take the ferry over to St. John.  And we always take a day trip to the BVI.  I'm dying to go back!
  • As long as you aren't looking for drugs or hanging out in parts of Kingston, Jamaica is perfectly safe to explore. I wasn't overly impressed with St. Thomas and St. Croix St. John is nice and I've heard good things about Virgin Gorda.  I like Jamaica because of the variety of things to do, the beaches and the culture. My favorite resorts are small boutique all inclusives.  I like Negril's laid-back vibe. Seven Mile beach is lovely and there are several really nice resorts on that stretch. There are also a lot of really beautiful unique hotels and resorts on the cliffs. On good days, the water below the cliffs is very calm and warm and you can cliff jump and snorkel.  I also enjoy going on excursions into Jamaica's interior as well.
