S/o of Foods Americans miss - Aussie ladies please help
Have you found any really good breakfast sausage here? I miss my McDonald's sausage mcmuffins - the sausage is wrong here. And I love a good old fashioned Jimmy Dean's breakfast sausage on occasion.
Or even an Eckridge (sp?) smoked sausage for dinner once in awhile.
The sweetness of sausage is just not right here - too many weird spices thrown in.
Anyone found a good sausage equivalents in Oz?

I haven't found a good bulk pork sausage substitute (Jimmy Dean), which is really upsetting.
I have found a decent smoked sausage substitute. It's called Rookwurst or Kookwurst. I lived in the south and use Bryan smoked sausage, but I'm pretty sure it was similar to the Ekrich in flavor. I find the rookwurst very close -- in fact when I cook it I really can't tell a difference at all, although it has a slightly different texture.
Very unlikely. I'm in the opposite situation. You could have a talk to a butcher and ask, or get a recipe and make your own.

For the McMuffin replacement, go to Hungry Jacks. Their Sausage Egg Muffin is exactly like it is in the states. How McDonalds can serve that sawdust and call it sausage is beyond me.
The closest thing I've found to a "hot Italian sausage" as we know it would be Mr. Beaks Chirizo and or Mr Beaks Spicy something or other. They have the least amount of filler in them. And I'm sorry, but rice flour or potato starch should never be the second ingredient in a sausage. You have now made it a hotdog.
I am about one pasta sauce of frustration away from buying the attachments for my KA and making my own dang sausages.
I just did a quick search and allrecipes.com.au have kielbasa recipes, so it must be available somewhere in OZ
