monday randoms

good morning everyone!

1. I completely forgot that I'm giving a speech in toastmasters tomorrow.  At least I don't really care too much.

2. I'm starting my clean eating diet today and I'm really worried that I won't be able to stick to it.  I really want to do it to be healthier, but I love processed foods (and it's easier to heat up a chik'n patty instead of cooking a whole meal).  Hopefully I can lose my last few lbs, too.

3. I think my toenail is going to fall off, but I also think there's another toenail growing underneath.  It turned blue/black a couple of months ago, and it's been loose, and when I lift it (I know this is totally gross) I think I see a new nail underneath.

4. We did not get finished as much as I wanted with the house last weekend.  I blame H, because he's slow, and has spent 3 days putting up the trim in a 3'x6' bathroom, so we didn't get a chance to install the toilet or vanity.

Re: monday randoms

  • Good luck with your speech, and the new meal plan.  Just remember that eating healthy doesn't have to be complicated.   There are a LOT of fancy meals out there (and posted here), but a grilled/baked chicken breast and steamed/roasted veggies are easy and healthy too.  So are spaghetti, tacos, fajitas, etc.  Not fancy, but easy to make, tasty with the right dried seasoning (dried, because that makes it easier!), and easy to make healthily.

    Good luck!

  • 1.) I am forever thankful to jehawley for posting about yogadownload.com the other day.  I did a sun salutation workshop this morning and feel FANTASTIC (except my hands are shaky, wtf!) and am washing my yoga mat in anticipation of my new am yoga routine.  Every day.

2.) I found a coupon for 20% off for it, too!  RETAILMENOT, which made it $7 something for the month.  YESSSSS.  Yoga makes me happy, discounts make me even happier

3.) Thinking I'm going to tackle today and kick it's butt.  I have phone calls to make, exams to make up, and case studies to grade.

4.) Seriously, why are my hands shaking so bad?   I haven't even taken my inhalers yet!

  • 1. I went on a bit of a shopping spree yesterday- I got 3 new shirts, 4 new dresses, a new skirt suit, some underwear, a pair of flip flops, and a pair of heels.

    2.  I'm going on a third date with a guy either tomorrow or Thursday and I'm definitely wearing one of my new dresses.

    3. My fingernails are bright red, and I love them.

    4. My alarm went off at 3:50 this morning so I could be at work by 6.  I'm ok right now, but this afternoon will be rough.

The day I left was just my beginning.
  • Good luck with your clean eating.  I totally agree with pp and I find it so much easier to eat healthy when it's nice out.  In addition to the chicken breasts we also do a lot of fish, veggies, and brown rice.

Every week for the past two months I say I am going to eat better and lose this few extra pounds and never do.  Same goes for exercising, I start out the week well and then end up sore and do nothing for the second half.   I really need to do better this week, plus with the rain I feel better after I do yoga so I just need to do it.

I am doing this health incentive program through work and my assessment was last week.  My blood sugar and cholesterol both haven't been super since we started fertility treatments and continued being borderline through my pregnancy and in the following months.  It's all finally back to normal!

I am also working with this health coach online and he is a pushy pain but I am looking forward to blowing the extra money on myself in July so I continue emailing him.  I think I am going to get a Mia and then something else that I normally wouldn't spend money on but I haven't fully made up my mind yet.

    Daycare is SO exhausting!

  • 1. Today is my first day of 10 hour shifts. So far, I love it. I'm feeling much more productive, even thought I was 30 minutes late.

    2. T does not like going to daycare at 6:30. Breakfast doesn't begin until 7, and he has to eat breakfast as soon as he gets to school. We may have to reconsider.

    3. My office is freezing, but my space heater is burning my ankles. Like my knees are shivering and my ankles are roasting.

  • I am starting a new plan today too. Some form of exercise every day, stop eating like crap.

I say this now, and I might change my mind later- but I finished a pack of smokes last night and I think I'm just not going to buy one on my way home today. I need to be done within a month, and might try to just do it now.

    Edited bc of f?cking autocorrect.

  • 1. My body can't get used to working the night shift! I wish this would be easier.

    2. I haven't exercised in at least a month and it is driving me nuts.

OMG this is GREAT! Thank you for repeating it, because I didn't see it when jehawley posted it. I'm a yoga teacher but I don't always have time to attend other classes, so this is really awesome for when I am just out of motivation and/or inspiration for my own personal practice.

    My randoms...

I made muffins this morning and have chicken stock on the stove but my house is a mess. I'm all Suzy Homemaker about kitchen stuff but the laundry can pile to the ceiling for all I care.

The only reason I am considering grocery shopping tonight is because I am out of half-and-half for my coffee and only have a smidge of skim milk left (which is ICK in coffee btw). So I have to go to the store tonight or I won't be able to have coffee tomorrow and that...would not be pretty.

Basically my randoms are all about how lazy I am. Nice.

  • i really want an iced coffee (from McD's, not our cafeteria) but i don't feel like getting out. i've been in the office since 6 and am settled, in a work groove, and people are coming in saying it's already sweaty-hot outside. i'm going to see if i can bait an underling into going for me.

i've got a ton to do today so i hope nothing interesting goes on around here today.

my right foot hurts when i'm walking and it's weird. it's like the inside of my heel, when it strikes the ground. i hope it goes away soon.

  • 1. I am going in for my weekly NST for Leo and I can't wait. I love sitting there listening to his heartbeat.

    2. I have really taken a turn in this pregnancy and feel large, sore and unflexible. Last night I was trying to lay on the floor with J to do one of those I Spy books and it just made everything hurt. And don't even get me started on how hard it is to get up and down. Even though I am 31 weeks my brain is in late pregnancy mode and I am feeling the effects physically.

    3. Next week I have a final, project and the busiest week of work. I am scuuured.

  • 1. My bird flirted with my MIL last night.

    2. Someone tried to break into our cars at work a few moments ago.  I had to move stuff around in my car again.  This happens every year.

    3. I feel some type of way.

  • 1. I am ONE assignment away from being done with school for the semester - YAY! Hopefully I'll have it ready to turn in by Wednesday.

    2. I woke up an hour late today and am still SOOOOO tired.

    3. I bribed my kid to eat lunch at school today (he normally brings lunch on Mondays) with the promise of Taco Bell and Icees once I pick him up.
