Hello, I'm new to the nest but have been on the bump for years. I'm 4 weeks postpartum with my last baby and I can't wait to start working out - mostly to get some "me" time and energy. I used to love working out before trying to have kids.
What motivates you to workout?
Any great advice?
TIA

Re: Motivation
To run/go to the gym, my motivation is the fact that I love to eat and drink, so in order to not gain too much I need to work out.
When I play soccer, my motivation is that it's fun and takes the stress away.
I make a schedule week by week of which days I'll work out (usually 5 times per week) and stick to that schedule unless something out of the ordinary comes up.
I have about a million reasons, but a few are:
Im a better wife, mom, friend, person when I have taken time to treat my body & mind well.
Im demonstrating a healthy lifestyle for my daughter.
I get 2 hours of childcare a day, which means 90 minutes to sweat & an uninterrupted shower
.
My husband is a former pro-athlete & now a college coach (not to mention he's super hot!), so I am trying my best to keep up with him (it will never happen, ftr
) Ha! Nothing wrong with some vanity for motivation, right?!
Once you get back into the swing of things, you won't need much motivation anymore - it'll take more effort to miss a workout
.
2012 Races: 3/18 Shamrock Shuffle 5k; 4/14 E.R. Race for Autism 5k (PR! 25:58); 6/9 Riudoso Sprint Triathlon; 6/24 Chunky Monkey 10K; 7/29 Cochiti Lake Olympic Triathlon; 9/16 Chips & Salsa 1/2 Marathon; 10/21 Duke City 1/2 Marathon; 12/2 Rock & Roll 1/2 Marathon in Vegas!
I'm almost exactly the same. I am a much nicer person when I take some "me" time, and especially when that time involves exercise. And I have a hot husband to keep up with
.
I've only taken three days off of the gym since being cleared after my c-section three weeks ago. It was hard to drag myself there the first couple of weeks, but now I have so much momentum that I can't imagine taking more than a weekly rest day off. I'm guessing it will be the same for you once you get your schedule set!
Good luck, and have fun.
