Just an update. I got the yarn (knit picks Brava Worsted) in the mail this weekend, and it's really nice. It's not as soft as the caron Simply Soft, but it feels a lot more like the superwash merino I got in the order as well. It is soft though and seems like it would be great on a baby's skin. It also doesn't split like some of the acrylics I've gotten from Joanns, Hobby Lobby, etc.
I haven't done any cabling with it, but certainly could if you want.
Overall, it seems like it's a great acrylic and will hold up really well. I'm happy with it and will likely use it again.
