I finished :)

I finished my duathlon today.  I got 66 or 99 overall, with a time of 1hr 30min and 2sec.  I got 20th out of 40 for the women though.  I'm pretty happy seeing that I have never been an athletic person, and just started running in late Jan.

Re: I finished :)

  • That's awesome!! Congrats.

I really admire your efforts, because I know that unless I was being forced to run, there is no way I'd do it voluntarily.

Are you planning on entering any more races?

  • I actually hate running too, but for some reason I've been making myself do it, its partly become a lunch time social thing.

I'd like to enter more races, but haven't found one yet.

  • Yay!!!  Congrats...that's so awesome!  You placed really well too!

Believe it or not, I'm actually not big on running either.  I'm really starting to question my sanity.

Damn you Nest for screwing up my siggy!

Way to go Claire!! I raise a virtual toast to you! What were your splits - wasn't this biking and running?
  • Thanks  :)

    Flame my times were:

    Run 1 (4k)  23:25

    Transisition1  1:04

    Bike (15k)  38:43

    Transition2  0:54

    Run 2 (4k) 25:58

There must have been some rounding since that adds up to 2sec longer than my official time.

I've now decided I need a road bike, almost no one had mountain bikes....

Wow Duff, you don't like running and you are doing a marathon?  That is some serious internal motivation.

Those are pretty good.  A road bike will definitely help...

One of my officemates is a hardcore tri-, bi-, quadrathoner. And another regularly does 50 mile plus rides every weekend. They both swear by their road bikes. The ulta bike rider just switched to carbon wheels to cut down her times.

  • CONGRATS! That is fantastic!!
  • Haha, I think I'm just crazy.  I'm not to that point where I feel like I'll die if I don't run every day, but I get out there 3-4 days a week...I've run in the snow, the dark, the rain...and thanks to this week, lots of wind.  I suck really, really bad, but I do it.  I think somewhere deep down I must love it.

Biking though...I'll do that any day.  I finally had to take my bike out of the car last week...I blew off an entire week's worth of runs b/c I couldn't resist going for a ride.  :)

Damn you Nest for screwing up my siggy!
