XP: Recommend a brand of condoms, please

I have to go off of BC pills for awhile because there are no refills left on my perscription (which I didn't know until it was too late) and CVS can't just call the doctor to get a refill because the doctor I saw last March moved out of state. So I'm in kind of a pickle because I can't get an appointment with another doctor until March 26. So we are just going to have to use condoms for awhile until I can see my new doctor, at which point I will discuss BC options for me because I'm not even sure if I want to continue with the pill I've been taking (yaz).

Anyway, H doesn't really like wearing condoms because it is hard for him to keep his erection, but we don't have many options so he is fine with it. We are going to go "condom shopping" this weekend and see which ones would work for him. We are probably going to look for a very thin condom with spermicide (because I am scared of getting pregnant) Anyone have any recommendations?

  • I don't know much about spermicide condoms (I've heard spermicide can cause irritation and I'm really sensitive). But Trojan Ecstasy condoms are rather roomy and, according to FI, do not impede sensation for the man as much, so I would definitely suggest those. I myself don't really have a preference. Don't forget the (water-based) lube!

  • Kinonos are a little expensive, but the gentlemen say they are worth it. I'd avoid spermicide unless you already know your body won't be irritated by it.

  • Crown condoms are thin and are bigger than an average condom. They don't come with spermicide though.

  • Skip the condoms with spermicide and check out the spermicidal foams, they are gentler.

And if he is concerned about condom slippage, get a stretch *** ring and when he is erect and condom is in place gently slide the *** ring to the base of the condom and you have a condom belt!

Do not leave the *** ring on longer than 20 minutes and if your partner is diabetic then I don't recommend the *** ring.

  • Trojans.  They have never done my husband and I wrong.  And they have all sorts of styles so you can experiment and find one (or more) that suits you both well.
So happy to be married to my best friend.
  • The only time I ever used ultra thin, it broke, my period decided to be late, and we thought I was pregnant. I wasn't. I wouldn't recommend ultra thin by trojan.

We use only spermicidle condoms. I've never experienced irritation, but maybe I'm not sensitive. As of now, we're using Trojan Ultra Ribbed, but there isn't anything fancy about them.

  • I've had Kinonos tear on me before and once almost had a pregnancy scare early on in my relationship with FH.

When we were using condoms we preferred Trojan magnums. FH says they are roomy enough and they don't irritate me all that much.

  • We like the "Bare" condoms by Durex. They are non-latex, so that eliminates the latex smell and sounds (squeaking?) that are distracting to us (more so me) during sexy times. I defer to the other posters on spermicide advice, I have no experience with that.
