Just got back from a trip to Paris-here are some of the places I loved eating at...this is my version of a trip review...![]()
Cave Bourgogne
144, Rue Mouffetard
75005, Paris Metro: Censier-Daubenton
-reasonable prices, typical southern French food. Cassolete-potatoes, cream and melted gruyere cheese
Le pain quotidian-they have 3 locations, but we went to the 20 Rue des Archives, 75004 Paris. metro: Hotel de Ville
- breakfast menu for 10 euros which include hot beverage (cafe Au lait/chocolate), fresh squeezed orange juice, a croissant, bread basket. They put in your table several jars several breads and lots of home made jams, nutela and chocolate.
Of course I had to go to Laduree several times. pastries, desserts and macarons!
Chez Flotes-they make their own foi gras here. Prices are a bit high, but definitely worth it.
(near Tulleries Gardens, the Louvre and Concorde)
2 Rue Cambon (1st arr.) M: COncorde
75001
Chez Fernand
13, rue Guisarde, 75006 Paris
M?tro Mabillon
The dessert baba au rum is very good if you like Rum (they literally bring a the whole bottle of rum to your table for you to pour on top of your bread-like cake). I recommend this place because it is very typical, food is good and it is in a very nice area. it is near the 6th arrondisment, near boulevard Saint-Germain de Pres.
Berthillon ice cream on the Il de St Louis-near our apartment and we went every day?
7e Vin, which is near the Eiffel Tower. Ask for their champagne with the hazelnut liqeuer ? will blow your socks off! 68 avenue Bosquet; 75007
La Jacobine ? the best french onion soup, and desserts. It?s in a really cute part of the city (Latin Quarter, 61, rue Saint-Andre des Arts 75006 PARIS Tel: 01 46 34 15 95 http://www.lajacobine.com/)
Cigale Recamier ? unbelievable souffl?s. Great for lunch. For dessert, get the salted caramel souffl? and the grand marnier souffl? (let?s just say a bottle of grand marnier is brought to your table!) 4 rue Recamier( St Germaine area)
One of Christian Constant?s restaurants (near the Eiffel Tour). He has three all on the same couple blocks. I ate at Les Cocottes and Caf? Constant. Le Violon d?Ingres is the more upscale version. Delicious duck! (http://www.maisonconstant.com)
L'Auberge de la Reine Blanche on the Little Isle. Great price fix menu for ~25 euros and some of the best beef bourguignon in the city. Cutest little restaurant too.
Les Pates Vivantes: 9th arr., really yummy Asian noodles (if you're sick of French food) and awesome gyoza (46, rue du faubourg Montmartre, 75009 Paris, France, Not a far walk from Galleries LaFayette)
Le Passage des Carmagnoles in the Bastille area (18 Passage Bonne Graine, Telephone: 01 47 00 73 30). Don?t be scared of the seedy-looking alley. The owner often works the bar and sits down with you to explain the menu (in English if you like). The menu (written on chalk boards) changes every day. They don't start serving until after 8pm and may be closed on Sundays.
And of course the falafel place...we ate their twice!
Re: Paris restaurants
I wasn't overly impressed with Berthillion, but that could be because my hometown has an amazing ice cream chain (Whitey's Ice Cream anyone?).
However, we did eat at L'Auberge de la Reine Blanche too and we loved it! Their beef bourguignon is truly delicious!
