Completely NP&CER. What's your best quick pick me up?

I'm looking for a mood adjustment that doesn't impair my ability to care for my kids. ;)-

I was going to offer an answer, but there's no way I can beat that.

  • Watching The Lonely Island videos on youtube always makes me happy.  Something about Michael Bolton busting his vocal chords on some Jack Sparrow cracks me up.
    Go babies Caden!
  • Getting out of the house. Go for a walk, put them in the stroller and just go
  • getting my butt up is the hardest part, but if I can going doing something for a few minutes, typically I can get into the grove from there easy enough. Turn on some fun music and start a dance party in the house. Cool

  •  Put the kids in front of some animated claptrap and take a shower.

    I am the 99%.
  • A very hot shower, with the bedroom door locked (that way the kids can't come screaming and banging at the bathroom door). Then laying in bed in my bathrobe drinking a vodka tonic. Kids are welcome at that point, but NO whining allowed.

  • over the years- shopping has been my therapy - which i'm trying to avoid now that i have kids and no $$ :)

I often find doing something for a cause- helping someone in need, etc, can reall life me up.

when DH was in AA they always said that helping others in need is one of the best ways to help yourself feel better all around.... it's not always something you can just "do" on a rainy depressing day... but as a general rule I try to do good enough that it's hard to let myself get very down.

I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.

  • Sometime I walk until I am too tired to be upset any more. Especially if I listen to RATM while doing so or other equally angry music.
  • I'm a walker or serial mower.  I walk until I notice I am no longer feeling bothered or I mow the lawn.  Mowing the lawn means earphones and trust me NO ONE comes near you when you are mowing, in my household it looks too much like work ;)
