My skin is eating my powder foundation

I recently purchased purminerals powder foundation. By the middle of the day it seems like my skin has eaten it. I notice more redness and the coverage just isn't quite enough for me. Maybe if I caked more on in the morning. Anyone with oily skin have a medium to full coverage powder foundation with lasting power?

Re: My skin is eating my powder foundation

  • Have you tried using a primer at all? That helps my powder foundation stay really well (I also have oily skin).

So far, I have tried Bare Minerals and Purminerals, but my favorite is Korres's Wild Rose mineral foundation. It pretty much changed my life after I thought BM was the best thing since sliced bread, lol.

Also, I find that setting my whole face with either Bare Minerals mineral veil or Tarte's smooth operator finishing powder really helps.

  • Lancome Dual Finish is my favorite powder foundation. It has great coverage and lasts very well on me all day.

  • Which primer do you like? I have one from the Boots line at Target but I don't think it's helping my makeup last.

  • I too use Lancome Dual Finish and really really like it.
  • I like Too Faced Primed and Poreless for primer. It seems to work better than all of the others I've tried (and I've tried a bunch).

I will add that before I switched to mineral foundation, I too was also using Lancome's dual finish powder (applied dry, with a sponge). In order to get the coverage I wanted, I would have to wear it over Bobbi Brown's foundation stick, which was fine, but I prefer the mineral foundations now. I didn't like using the lancome wet for some reason.

  • Maybe I'll try the primed and poreless with the purminerals before I give up on it. I love how it looks at first. Just wish it would last longer. So, I suppose the primer is worth a shot. They have a 'pure' version of the primed and poreless that I might try.
