The answer is maybe to move to Texas. The houses I've been stalking all have this "third living room" thing- so if you didn't want a formal living room or playroom/ media room it would be easy.
Stand up for something you believe in.

My BIL has a home development company and they're currently working on a house that has a library/bonus room with built in shelves and all of that. It's pretty neat.
