Can't Congress do something about the insurance gap
I feel so special: The days of not being accepted by insurance companies is over.
Yes, I am being sought after to sign up for health insurance. It does not matter that I have pre-existing illness. You see, some of the same companies who turned me down over and over or quoted a premium monthly payment higher than my house note now want me. Why? Because I will turn 65, and they all want me.
I am on the do-not-call list, but that does not stop the need to call and invite me to dinner meetings; to give up 20 minutes in my home for them to give me the spiel why one company is better than others; or to bombard my mailbox with offers.
I will choose the best for me without all the outside help, as I always have. I will be insured, but my husband is still ?unwanted? for three more years. If the supplemental insurance was offered for him until he turned 65, that could mean the difference in paying for a catastrophic illness or losing our home.
Maybe Congress will think of a version of this suggestion so we both will have insurance of some kind to help those who are 61-65 years old.

Re: .... ugh this letter to the editor really irks me.
Anything you can achieve through hard work, you could also just buy.
So..people under 61 don't need health insurance? What?
