Train Travel-Berlin, Prague, Vienna
Hi all,
We are traveling to Germany at end of the month and have not bought train tickets. It looks like we can get them cheaper online than if we order them at the station. What do you think is better? Obviously, the cost is cheaper but there may be more flexibility if we order as we arrive. Have you ever had problems arriving and not finding space? Also, I have found information for train travel to and from Germany but am not sure where to look for Prague to Vienna. Our dates of travel are not flexible because we have already book our hotels.
Any suggestions and advice is appreciated:)
Thanks:)
Re: Train Travel-Berlin, Prague, Vienna
I've never had issues buying international tickets from Prague. They sell more tickets than there are seats on the train, so I don't think it's possible for there to be no tickets.
Tickets are almost always cheaper if you buy them directly from the Czech rail company (which you can do if you're getting on the train in the Czech Republic) at least three days in advance than if you buy them from Eurorail or something like that.
The English version of the Czech railway site is below. That is where you need to look for the info for the Prage-Vienna portion of the journey.

We just got back from central and eastern Europe, and this is what I was going to suggest for Germany also. We got the savings fares for much cheaper by purchasing in advance. Everywhere else we just bought tickets at the station and found them to be reasonably priced.
