Am I wrong to like these??

I feel like I shouldn't like these, but I totally do. I don't like the nearly $300 price tag, but I am really drawn to how comfy these look, and I actually really like the ikat pattern and colors. I had a similar style a few years ago that were seersucker striped that I pretty much lived in all summer. I guess I like that they are wide leg, yet not TOO wide, and still maintain a bit of structure so they aren't super loungey looking.

Re: Am I wrong to like these??

  • I was with you on that plaid LL Bean dress (I think it was LL Bean), but I think these are super fug.  I like the cut, but the pattern is ridiculous - unless you only wear them around the house.
  • I've been staring at them for a minute or two and I think they're growing on me.

But, I feel that even if I wore them for a summer, that in three years I'd be like, WTMF was I thinking when I bought these?  So for $300, I'm going with no.

Also I would not wear these, I'd look like some sort of freak in those.

Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
  • Totally nms, but I think they could work on a VERY select number of women. The blogger from This Free Bird comes to mind. But I think LTP is right, you'll probably look back at these and laugh.
  • These pants are one of those things I'd absolutely wear if I was back in Charleston or in FL over a swimsuit with a tank and be good to go. Here in TN it would just look too out of place.

For $300 I wouldn't get them regardless, but if they were maybe $25-$50 I'd be down depending on where you live (I didn't check before I typed this).

Also, random, but that would be an awesome duvet print.

  • I would wear a print like that on pants for PJs around the house.  I would like it if it were shorts, but I think the full length is overwhelming
  • LOL! I'm loving the input ladies. The print is out there, I give you that, but I'm oddly drawn to it. Its sort of like how I'm drawn to all things glittery/sparkly, if you stick an interesting and colorful print in my line of sight, its like "OOOOOOH! COLORS!", lol.

LTP, that was my exact reaction when I first saw them in the store. I was like WTF?!?!?!...oh wait...maybe? Since then I keep thinking about the damn pants. I would NEVER in a million years pay $300 for them, but yeah $25-50 if they looked good on me. At $25, even if I thought they were ridiculous 3 years from now, It wouldn't be too much of a loss, lol.

I like the idea of them in shorts too, HZ...definitely more wearable for that print!

Being in Chicago, I'm not sure how pants like that would "work" here or if I would look ridiculous, but I guess I wouldn't care so much, haha. I'm drawn to summery, tropical things all the time. You can take the girl out of Puerto Rico, but you can't take the Puerto Rico out of the girl!!

    These look like pajama pants.

I know that there's a trend in pants that are pajama pants inspired. but these don't even look inspired, they just look like straight pajama pants.

  •

I like them but I 100% agree with this statement:

    imagelaptopprancer:

that in three years I'd be like, WTMF was I thinking when I bought these?

  • They're not the worse printed pants I've ever seen and I think the overall style is pretty flattering, especially the way they are styled with the flat sandal and the plain tee.  However, the $300 price tag is totally ridiculous.  I also agree with LTP's...WTMF statement.

I don't mind the print or colors but I disagree with the above. They are super loungey looking to me. I kind of like them, but they are ultimately just glorified PJs.

  • Now I'm thinking about hippies and getting itchy.

  • I don't think you're wrong to like them but I agree they look like pajama pants. Maybe if they were cut differently like the ones below. I like these ikat pants:

Yeah see, the cropped ones would not work on me at all. The first ones would be okay since they are essentially a skinny jean, but I'm not loving the print, and what I like about the OP ones is that they are loose-fitting and casual (maybe TOO casual based on the replies, lol)

I could see Vanessa Hudgens wearing these at Coachella with a big azz floppy hat and a macrame itty bitty bikini top.

I would do a print like this in a skinny jean, but not for $300.

the fact that i abhor the original pants AND these just makes me feel old.  or unstylish.  or both.  but i'm okay with that, because ohmigod, not in a bazillion years!

I'm totally with you on these! YesYes

    Love them.

  • Sorry, these look like pajama pants. I would NOT spent $300 on pajama pants.

Not to mention they are ugly.

ETA: actually the pattern is growing on me.  If they were $20 I might consider buying them.  But for $300, no way, dude.

  • I like them, but wouldn't pay that much
  • I do like the style/cut but totally don't like the print. I would super love them if they were striped!

If they were (much) cheaper, I'd buy them and get them made into shorts! As is and at that price, I think I'd pass.

I can totally see her or Grace Potter working those at Coachella in some form.

The first pant in Busy's picture is by AG and around $200.  They are doing a brighter embroidered version that you may like Bimbi.  They were darker and brighter on FB last week, but aren't released.

I think they're cute, but not $300 cute and I'm also drawn to glittery/sparkly/loud things.  If you want an ikat short, there are these AG's that you can try through Zappos with free returns, but get them at 6PM for under $100.

    image

  • Thanks FCG! I don't think the OP pants are $300 cute either, and like I said I would never by them (or really any pants for that matter), at that price. I'll have to check those shorts out.

I found the same pants in some different prints (and under $100!) thanks to a google search. This first print is obviously not as loud, but they look even more pajama-y to me than the OP ones:

    image

These ones have the ikat print, but more monochromatic...I still like the original print I posted better, haha.

    image

  • No problem!  Those do look more PJ, but comfy.  Any day now Anthro and UO will start looking like ikat threw up all over them since it happened last year with various tribal prints.  I thought of AG right away though since they have been flooding my FB with teasers on Ikat Stilts.  The brighter ones are coming soon.

  • They're NMS but if I saw someone wearing them I wouldn't side-eye them. I like the way they are styled.
  • If you really love that style, you could probably find a local seamstress who'll make them for you for much cheaper.  And you can choose your fabric!  Check on CL or your local YellowPages or just ask around for an independent lady.  I like getting clothes made for me, so it's just a thought ;)

Not a terrible idea Expat! Thanks!
