What's your favorite cleanser?
I need a new cleanser to remove makeup. I use aveeno foaming clear complexion cleanser and love it for keeping my skin clear. I've heard that its best to use a separate cleanser to remove makeup so that the acne ingredients can actually work instead of cleaning the makeup away. I don't know if it's true, but makes sense to me. Anyway, I'm looking for a good, gentle cleanser. I can't use anything too heavy(like purity) it breaks me out. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Re: What's your favorite cleanser?
CeraVe hydrating cleanser. My second choice is Cetaphil moisturizing cleanser. Both are very gentle. So, you will be washing your face two times - first with this cleanser, and then a second time with the acne wash?
You know Neutrogena makes a combo one especially for acne and makeup.
I have completely normal skin and this is my go-to.

I use Philosophy Purity cleanser and I love it. It has been highly recommended on the boards, and once I tried it, I switched my cleansers out for it. It is gentle enough to use with the Clarisonic, it removes makeup (though I use Mary Kay eye makeup remover for my stubborn UD 24/7 eye liner and Benefit mascara), it keeps my combination skin at bay, and it's still gentle. Love it, and a bottle lasts me forever.
I'm looking for a new one, too. I used one by Merle Normal of all things for *years*. But they must have changed the formulation. I just don't like it anymore. Doesn't clear the makeup off as well as it used to and it stings if I get it too close to my eyes.
I've tried a bunch of different ones... Bobbi Brown, Estee Lauder, Kiehl's, Clinique, Lancome and I'm still not in love with anything. Part of my problem is, I don't want a 'foaming' one... nor do I want one that I need to use with water. (I'd rather just apply, tissue it off, then tone and moisturize.) If anyone can find me one like that, I'd be thrilled.
It's the ones you can call at 4am that matter. -

I've never heard of anything like that. Does that really exist?
OP - I like Dermalogica's skin clearing face wash.
I have oily, acne prone skin and this is what I use too. I use it remove makeup then again with my clarisonic for a deep clean.

It does! I read a lot of directions when looking for cleansers. Many say something like: apply and remove with a tissue or water. I like to avoid the 'water' part as it can dry me out.
Have you tried this?

moroccojade--I think Pond's cold cream does not require any water and you just wipe off your makeup with a tissue.
OP--I really like Shiseido Pureness facial cleanser and Estee Lauder Perfectly Clean Splash Away Foaming Cleanser.
And I would only wash or cleanse my face once and not twice at the same time. Washing it twice is asking for really dry skin.
