Keeping a clean house during renovation..

I'm slowly renovating my place and I didn't follow the rule of doing one room at a time for a few reasons. Having to move things around to do parts of my reno has caused a big huge mess in my place and it has gotten so out of hand that I dont even know where to start. I like to write down a list of tasks and complete them, but it seems more difficult done than said when there are also daily chores like dishwashing, cooking, laundry, etc. There are so many hours in a day and I cant seem to get my place together. I dont expect it to look perfect but with all of the spring cleaning (i.e. - going through boxes of things, pulling them out and deciding what goes where) it has just added to complete chaos. I think I approached it wrong and Im trying to fix it. Please Help!

Re: Keeping a clean house during renovation..

  • can you list the projects you have going on
  • If you're doing anything with drywall or sanding go get a shiop vac, it can ruin your regular vaccuum cleaner.  I would shop vac every few days or right after you're done working, and I would section off the non work areas with plastic and clean those, then at least you'd have spaces that weren't in complete chaos.  Set up a folding table for your spring cleaning/sorting, and only do it there to prevent more chaos.  And try to complete a space as soon as you can.  The rule of one area at a time is as much for your sanity as anything.
