Anniversary gift ideas

Our 4 year anniversary is coming up in August.  This will be our first anniversary apart.  I don't know what I should get for DH.  The traditional gifts are fruit and flowers.  Modern gifts are linen, silk, and nylon.  The alternate modern gift is appliences.

The fruit and flowers are out, and so are the appliences.  They aren't very care package friendly.  So my only option would be linen, silk, or nylon.  But I'm not sure what would be a good gift to send him while deployed.

Of course, I could just get him something other than the 4 year gift traditions.  I guess its a good thing I'm starting to look into it now.  Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Anniversary gift ideas

  • What about a nice set of sheets?  As far as appliances, you could get him a Kindle Fire or something of the sort.  J just bought himself one and loves it.  He had become quite a reader over the last few years and is excited that he can put a bunch of books on that instead of carrying around books from FOB to FOB.

I love my Fire and H likes it too. He just took it with him the last time around, except wi-fi sucked so he never really used it.

I like the idea of the Fire or the Nook. Or any other electronics that he wants? That's usually what I get my H for any type of gift. I'm actually running out of electronics to get him.

He's not really much of a reader, so a Kindle would be pointless.  He has been wanting an iPad, but didn't want to spend that much money since I still haven't found a job.

  • Does he use an electric razor?  MH has such a thick beard that he blows through them about every year.  I bought him a new one for Christmas.  He far prefers those over disposables.  It saves us a bunch of money since he can only use a razor once before it's too dull.
