Hungry but no appetite?

Anyone else? I'm on a SRI if that helps at all.

How can you be hungry if you have no appetite?  And what's an SRI?

  • Do you mean your stomach is growling but nothing "sounds" good? I have no idea what an SRI is. Eat something you know is a good mix of carbs/protein if you're truly hungry. Or have a glass of water and wait until you know what you want.

Antidepressant and that's exactly what I feel like.

  • I felt that way when I was newly pregnant. Just getting *something* in my stomach so the gnawing pit feeling stopped was key. I kept graham crackers and whipped cream cheese around for this purpose. Also, plain potato chips. :p Once I had some calories tumbling around, I could better focus on what I actually wanted to eat next. Take the edge off with a healthy snack--apple and peanut butter?--and go from there.

My go-to something is pb on toast.  Then I can decide if I want sweet or savory.  :)

  • When my mouth is bored, my latest go-to is almonds and/or dark chocolate because they fill me up quickly and they're kind of good for you.

It used to be Cap'n Crunch and ice cream, so I'm calling this progress.

  • I was wondering if your brain was confusing hunger and indigestion...mine does. But with SRIs I agree that getting something in your tummy might trigger your appetite...appetizer...

  • I've been through that with an antidepressant I was on for 8 months.  I had no appetite, and when I did eat, just a little bit would make me feel uncomfortably full.  I ended up losing a lot of weight, down to 90 lbs.  I lost all my muscle.  As a result, I had to discontinue it.  I just couldn't consume enough calories each day and wasn't eating healthy foods.
