What movie for date night tomorrow?

DH and I are finding out the sex of our baby tomorrow, and going on a little date night afterwards to celebrate!  I'm tossing around the idea of "if it's a boy we watch this movie, or a girl we watch the other movie" but DH's suggestion for a boy movie was Wrath of the Titans, and even with the superhot star, I don't think I can watch that, lol...

Anyway...

Choosing between American Wedding or Cabin in the Woods.  Also in the possible running is The Avengers or Five Year Engagement.

Has anyone seen any of these?  Thoughts?  Especially if you've seen a few of them, feel free to tell me which one was better!

Re: What movie for date night tomorrow?

  • how exciting (finding out the sex, i mean)!

i haven't seen any of those movies.  if i had to choose, i'd probably go with the avengers b/c i think it's something that my husband i could both enjoy.

  • Do you mean American Reunion?  It was entertaining.
  • We both liked American Reunion.  It had some over the top scenes, but lived up to the rest of them and was better than the last American movie.  If you want something really light that would probably be it.  The Five Year Engagement dragged for both of us and we agreed it was OK at best.  We really wanted to like it since DH is originally from MI, but it was too long.  We both want to see The Avengers really quickly, but the theater will be crazy for that when it opens unless you hit an off time.  I'd keep that in mind if you don't want to deal with crowds.

Another one to consider that we saw tonight and both thought was great was Salmon Fishing In The Yemen with Emily Blunt and Ewan McGregor.  Here's the trailer.  It barely scratches the surface of everything that the movie had going on because there were so many great storylines, but I'd see it if you can find it because the scenery is too gorgeous for a rental.  That would be my first choice out of everything we've seen recently.

  • Duh, American Reunion...that's funny.  Ha!!!

We'll be seeing a movie around 2-3 pm so not too worried about crowds.

    Thanks girls!

  • Cabin in the Woods is pretty awesome if you like horror movies but also find them a little eye roll worthy.  :)  It's not a typical horror movie at all and is pretty hilarious.
  • i would either see "cabin in the woods" (have seen it; loved it!) or "avengers" no matter what i found out!

  • I would see 5 year engagement.  I haven't seen it yet but I heard it's funny.

I've seen most on your list and I would choose The Avengers.

Cabin in the Woods was good, but after all the excellent reviews I expected more. The 5 yr Engagement is ok, but not great.  It has some funny moments.

We watched American Reunion and LOVED it!  It was so freaking funny.  If you liked the older ones, it's the exact same formula again.

And, found out it's a GIRL!
