Spirit Airlines- Charging $100 for carryon
Re: Spirit Airlines- Charging $100 for carryon
That is out-effing-rageous. $50 each way for a freaking carry on?!
I don't fly Spirit anymore, because I got sick of nickel and diming. This is way beyond nickels and dimes. I look forward to seeing them eventually flop with this business plan.
I heart Southwest's bags fly free policy.
I have to admit that I really like the idea of paying more for a large carry-on than for checked luggage. I'm getting so tired of the hassle of people trying to fit so much stuff in the overhead bins because of checked bag fees. It slows down boarding and is generally a nuisance.
If the airlines would actually enforce the size limits on carry-ons this wouldn't be an issue. But they won't.
The other problem is the entitled douchebags who are in the first group to board but sitting at the back of the plane who throw their carry-ons into the first empty overhead compartment they encounter at the front of the plane. That's the reason everybody is having to scramble all over trying to find a place for their carry-on.
Here in Europe most airlines enforce the carry-on limits. Some even make every person put their bag into this compartment to make sure it fits. Plus alot of them have weight limits on your carry-on 8-10kg only.
I cannot believe that the weight limits for a carry-on bag in the US are often over 40 lbs! That's almost the same limit as for checked luggage!
There's almost no need to check the size of an 8-10kg bag, because I always hit the weight limit long before I fill the bag!
I can only envision people trying to wear 5 shirts, 3 pairs of pants etc to get around the luggage fees. There are the jacka$$es who think it's cool to go through security almost naked so there will be the jacka$$es who try to wear everything they will need for the next week.
I was even annoyed at the $25 checked luggage fee from United. Just up my ticket $25 and let me think I have free luggage!
