Go Phils!!
I only wear one if I am doing some sort of water sport and don't want my bikini top falling off. DH surfs and wears one for additional sun protection, since he is in/on the water for hours at a time. If you're not planning on being in the water a lot, you're probably fine with whatever sort of cover-up you would normally wear.
ETA - re. comfort, I find them to be too tight around the neck for my liking.

What beach? When I go to Oahu, I bring mine. I love wearing it while snorkeling. It keeps me a little warmer than just a bikini and I don't need to worry about getting sunburned. Mine is too dorky to wear for hanging out on the beach. It has long sleeves
and the body is neoprene. Are most of them just the thin material?
