H and I like to take a nice vaca every year. We would like to save up and in a couple year take 2-3 weeks and travel around Europe.
So for the next couple years we would like to keep our vacations domestic so we can save more.
Please recommend you favorite US vacation destination (and the best time of year to visit)
TIA

Re: Favorite domestic travel
Charleston, SC & surrounding beaches
April through early June
Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
our favorite trip so far within the US was to San Francisco. Soooo much to do there!
We take a ton of "staycations" in Arizona. I live just outside of Phoenix, so we often stay in Scottsdale, even if we just want to have a few drinks and a nice meal. We also go down to Tucson a lot. It's about 2-2.5 hours for us. I personally think AZ is too cold over the winter, but that is when a lot of people like to travel there. I think the best months are April and October.
Our wedding on Wilson Island!
Lake Tahoe.
Anytime.

Yellowstone
Napa Valley
Key West
I would also ditto Chicago or NYC.
I'm canadian but those are practically domestic for us
I love NYC, Chicago, and Boston. Philadelphia is also a great city. May and the fall are great times to visit those cities in my book. Not too hot, not too cold. Usually perfect temperatures for walking around and being outside.
I'll also plug where I currently live - Washington, DC. So much free stuff to do. Again spring and fall are the best times here. Plus outside of DC there is a lot to see and do in Virginia - wineries, hiking, Civil War battlefields and other historical stuff, etc.
We've really enjoyed all of the following:
Chicago
Northern Michigan
Savannah, GA
Arizona (Grand Canyon and Sedona)
Niagara Falls and Toronto (not domestic, but an easy weekend trip from MI)
If we're doing domestic travel, we usually stay relatively close to home and drive, so we'll do in-state places like Sedona or Flagstaff, or we'll go one state over to do Vegas (about a 5 hour drive), or San Diego (about a 6 hour drive).
With other places, between flying, rental cars, hotels, activities, etc, it's almost the same amount for us to just go to Hawaii than it is to go anywhere else in the US, and 9 times out of 10, I'd rather go to Hawaii, so we really haven't done a vacation in other places of the US.
-San Fran and wine country
-NYC
-Savannah, GA
-Charleston, SC--I did a really fun long weekend here--great food, interesting sites, shopping, beaches near by
-In the fall Boston and all of NE are great or Cape Cod/Martha's Vineyard or Maine in the summer
-Sedona, AZ
-National parks in Utah
-Seattle and surrounding area
-Chicago and Philly are good cites to visit

Savannah in early spring or fall
Boston/Cape Cod in summer
Vermont and Maine in the summer
