Anyone use a bone simulator?

Specifically for a stress fracture? A runner/friend of mine who is also a doctor used one and had a positive experience. Honestly don't tHink it would be an option for me since they run around 1000 bucks....:( but thought I'd ask opinions.

  • Well, my mind is certainly in the gutter

  • A blogger I follow used one to heal a fracture in her foot. She got it off of ebay. Her doctor said it "definitely aided in recovery." 1k probably is not worth it, but maybe sniff around for a used one.
  • Yes I have one and I used it for my foot. When I got it the bone was %60 healed at 4 months out and 2months later it was %100 healed. The company who makes it had special financing that I quilflied for and it only cost me $200. It was so worth it.
  • I used one that a friend of mine had for a stress fracture in my foot.  Since I don't know how long it would have taken me to heal otherwise, I don't know if it really helped.... but it didn't seem to hurt.

a "boner" stimulator is something entirely different!  Wink

  • my grandma's husband used one when he broke his neck.  he was 82 and in a halo.  he made a full recovery.

my mom got if off ebay for cheap.

  • I used one for my broken wrist in hopes that it would help the healing and I wouldn't need surgery.  I ended up having surgery, so no real help from the bone stimulator.

You have to be very dedicated to using it.  For me it was 20 minutes a day and the effectiveness diminished greatly even if you missed only one day.

My insurance covered it and I returned it when I was done.  No way I would buy one with the limited results they deliver.
